Properties of Statistical Distribution
The time to failure is a random variable, T, with cumulative distribution function, F(t)
Note that the item is in the working state at time t if T > t and in the failed state if
T ≤ t and no action is being initiated to rectify the failure.

Series Systems/Configuration
In a series configuration, a failure of any component
results in the failure of the entire system.

How to Model the Reliability based on RBD?
Series Systems/Configuration
Misalkan sebuah sistem memiliki subsistem sebanyak i. sehingga kondisi sistem (Xs(t)) tersebut
dapat dinotasikan sebagai berikut
X i (t ),1 i n
1 if component i in the working state
X i (t ) = {
0 if component i in the failed state
Dikarenakan konfigurasi seri bisa berfungsi hanya jika (iff) semua subsistem berfungsi, maka,
X s (t ) = 1 iff { X i (t ) = 1, 1 i n}
n
X s (t ) = X 1 (t ) X 2 (t ).... X n (t ) = X i (t )
i =1
n
Fs (t ) = F1 (t ) F2 (t )....Fn (t ) = Fi (t )
i =1
How to Model the Reliability based on RBD?
Parallel Systems/Configuration
Misalkan sebuah sistem memiliki subsistem sebanyak i. sehingga kondisi sistem tersebut dapat
dinotasikan sebagai berikut
X i (t ),1 i n
1 if component i in the working state
X i (t ) = {
0 if component i in the failed state
Dikarenakan konfigurasi parallel tidak berfungsi hanya jika (iff) semua subsistem tidak
berfungsi, maka,
X p (t ) = 0 iff { X i (t ) = 0, 1 i n}
n
X p (t ) = 1 − (1 − X 1 (t ))(1 − X 2 (t ))....(1 − X n (t )) = 1 − (1 − X i (t ))
i =1
n
Fp (t ) = 1 − (1 − F1 (t ))(1 − F2 (t ))....(1 − Fn (t )) = 1 − (1 − Fi (t ))
i =1
Example
Example: Stereo System
Amplifier
Memory Speaker 2
tingkat kehandalan produk tsb setelah 3 tahun pemakaian.
Sehingga diperlukan pengelompokkan masing-masing konfigurasi
F1 (t ) F4 (t )
Audio Card F3 (t ) Speaker 1
Amplifier
Memory Speaker 2
F2 (t ) F5 (t )
menjadi konfigurasi seri.
n=2
F12 (3) = 1 − (1 − Fi (3)) = 1 − (1 − F1 (3))(1 − F2 (3))
i =1
F12 (3) = 1 − (1 − 0.90)(1 − 0.95) = 0.995
Speaker 1 dan Speaker 2
n =5
F45 (3) = 1 − (1 − Fi (3)) = 1 − (1 − F4 (3))(1 − F5 (3))
i =4
F45 (3) = 1 − (1 − 0.85)(1 − 0.75) = 0.9625
masih sebesar 94.8% setelah
F (3) = (0.995)(0.99)(0.9625) = 0.948 3 tahun
