“Unang Mundong Pilipinas”

The National Artist that I have chosen is Vicente S. Manansala. The reasoning behind my
decision is because when browsing through different national artists for this activity, Mr. Manansala’s
artwork immediately caught my eye, I was fascinated. His type of art is for what I can see is “Readable
Abstract” meaning the art style is abstract but the finished product is straightforward. In my unfinished
art, I took inspiration of his abstract-ish background and blatant foreground but added my own mix to it.
The background is finer with smaller and formulaically toned-down colored while what I planned for the
subjects are much more obvious paired with brighter colors. Unfortunately, I lacked the time so that is
what I come up so far. Taking inspiration for his painting shown “Magsasaka” I decided to go with a
much more contemporarily relevant topic and what I got is “Unang Mundong Pilipinas” or First World
Philippines featuring jobs that are prevalent in developed nations.
