1. How often do earthquakes of a certain magnitude occur?

Earth is a dynamic place, and earthquakes can occur at any time. Magnitude 2 and
smaller earthquakes occur several hundred times per day on average around the world.
Major earthquakes of greater than magnitude 7 occur on a monthly basis. "Great
earthquakes", magnitude 8 and higher, occur about once a year.

2. What kind of seismic hazards are associated with earthquakes?
