Film Review
Introduction
This is a review of the film ‘From Homeless to Harvard’ which is produced by
Michael Mahoney and released in 2003. It is a heart-warming film, acted by
renowned actors and actresses. The leading actress, Thora birch has been nominated
for Prime Time Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a
movie. Michael Riley and Robert Bocktael are also her co-stars in the film. Written
by Ronni Kern and directed by Peter Levin, the film is based on the real life of a
young girl living in New York, US.

Liz Murray is taken care of by her loving, but drug-addicted parents. She often goes
hungry as a child and after her mother dies of AIDS, she eventually ends up living on
the street at the age of 15. She has to dig deep and decides to continue school. With a
little help, she manages to complete high school in a mere two years instead of the
normal four. Despite being homeless and dealing with personal tragedy, Murray
manages to overcome her problems. Triumph is hers after she scores a scholarship
and is accepted to study in Harvard University.

It is truly worth the time spending one hour 45 minutes to watch this inspiring
story. We can learn about survival and making the right choice. Not only that, it
also pays to work hard, to be resilient and to persevere. This film is great and I am
touched that all the casts played their roles exceptionally well. I personally enjoyed
this film thoroughly and would highly recommend it to viewers. This film is sure to
appeal to teenagers and young adults who are still in pursuit to triumph in life.
Trust me, you won’t be dejected.
