Persons are not mere physical objects or material static
beings. Humanbeings are embodied souls and animated bodies
that are unique in creation. As such, they are capable of
rational thinking and acting.

TAKING CHARGE OF MY LIFE

TO BE TRULY HUMAN IS THEDESTINY OF LIFE ON EARTH.AS SUCH, WE MUST HAVEA FIRM

THERE ARE VARYING DEGREES IN THE DEPTH OF THIS SELF-CONCEPT, EACH NORMALPERSON
IS CAPABLEOF HAVING SUFFICCIENT UNDERSTANDING OF THE NATURE AND WORTH OF
PERSONHOOD TO ENABLE HER TO EVALUATEHUAMN ACTS.

WE ARE MADE TO ACHIEVE OURULTIMATE VALUE, WHICHIN GOD, THROUGH THE PURSUIT OF
THE MORALGOOD OR PRACTICEOF VIRTUE. MORALITY IS ESSENTIALLY RELATED TO OUR
NATURE AS HUMAN PERSONS.THIS IS WHEREALL OF US HUAMN BEINGS FIND THE COMMON

MORALITY IS A UNIVERSAL PERSONAL FACT AS WELL AS ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT

The Key Elements in the definition of Morality

5. For Christians, morality is not only a search for norms of human

conduct in the light of human reason alone (ethics) ; rather it is morality
guided by Revelation. To the Christian, morality is a response to God’s
incredible, freely given gifts of love and salvation offered to us by the
Lord Jesus Christ
only persons can behave
morally

Whatever animals do, they are incapable of moral behavior.

Only persons can behave morally. But not every person
can be morally responsible. Those who have not yet
reached the age of reason and those who are unable to
use their reasoning power, the insane and those in the
physically unconscious state are not worried about moral
concerns. A person’s moral responsibility diminishes to the
extent that they are performed without the truly human
participation, i.e. lacking or deprived somewhat in
awareness and freedom
Moral personality

What then is a moral personality? To be such, a person

must be conscious and awake, alert, capable of using
her/his intelligence with a certain degree of self-
understanding whereby she/he grasps her/his dignity,
worth and absolute value as a personal being, endowed
with a free will and an ability to strive after happiness
through the responsible exercise of her/his freedom.

morality

is concerned with the truly human activity of

persons. It looks at human acts from the precise
point of view of whether they befit the dignity of
a human person as such.

moral person

It is one thing to be good at football, economics,

computer, driving, constructing; it is another matter
to be good at being a truly human person through
one’s deliberate free choices. Such person is said to
be a moral person or a morally good person or
someone we call a responsible person.

immoral person

When a person chooses freely or deliberately a

way of life that disregards human dignity, the
principles of right and wrong and throws away
respect for rightful law and authority, she/he is
called an immoral person
amoral person

When the person lives and acts without any

concern for human dignity and moral standards,
when she/he does not recognize any concept of
right or wrong, this person is called amoral.

immoral and
amoral
The immoral person recognizes and
knows what is right and wrong; the amoral
person has not accepted any concept of
right or wrong and drifts on without any
moral standards.

We were created by Him this way.
Precisely in our ability to think and love, we mirror God’s life. As
such, we are priceless. We are valuable.
