Plan Content
One FEAP that relates to this lesson is FEAP 1, “Instructional Design and Lesson Planning”, specifically 1f.
which is about developing “learning experiences that require students to demonstrate a variety of
applicable skills and competencies”. This relates to the lesson because lining students about requires them
to demonstrate skills which they are taught throughout the year, such as remaining quiet, forming an
orderly line, cleaning up after themselves, etc. Another FEAP that this lesson relates to is FEAP 2c, which
“conveys high expectations to all students”. This lesson can demonstrate FEAP 2c because during the
lineup routine, I am consistently reminding students of expectations that will be expected of them while
lining up. Some of these expectations include staying quiet while lining up, getting into a single-file line,
walking on the right side of the hallway, and remaining quiet while walking through the hallway.
My expected outcome for this routine is that students will line up quietly and exit the room to get to their
destination. While they are in line, I expect them to stay quiet while walking down the hall, and remain in a
single file line while walking.
I will know if students have met my objectives through their actions as the lesson plan is being taught. I
will see students in a single straight line facing forward, and they should all be walking. I should hear
nothing other than my own voice giving directions which will let me know that the students are being
quiet while lining up.
Background knowledge which is necessary for students to successfully complete this task is prior
knowledge of an attention grabber which will be used within the lesson plan. In addition to that, other
background knowledge which is necessary for students is which side of the hallway the students should
be walking on. At Miles Elementary there is a yellow line in the hallway which students must walk on the
right side of when walking in a line, which is necessary information that students must know in order to
successfully complete the task. A classroom expectation which aligns with this task is that students are
expected to remain quiet within the classroom, unless they are working in small groups or the teacher lets
them talk. This expectation is translated when lining students up because they should still be remaining
quiet regardless. One procedure which is in place to help students in meeting these expectations is the
hallway procedure which I mentioned earlier about the yellow line. Without this procedure, students
would be unable to safely walk in a line in the hallway, as the purpose of the line is to guide students as
they walk, and also ensure that they do not get hit by classroom doors opening in the hallway. One
expectation that I might go over before engaging in this task is to remind students of behaviors which they

when in the hallway, staying in a single file straight line, and going straight to wherever their destination
is.
Task Implementation
Time Who is 1. At 10:10am I will remind students that we will be lining up to switch
10:03 responsible classes at 10:15am. This will prepare the students to begin finishing up

Students)? 10:10am, “Boys and girls, you all have 5 more minutes to finish up
Teacher whatever you’re working on, and then when the clock hits 10:15am, I will
begin to give you all instructions to line up.”
10:08 Students 2. When it hits 10:15am, I will begin to give instructions to line students up.
I will start by saying, “It is now 10:15am which means you guys should be
finished up, so I will now give you all 60 seconds to clean up your desk
area, put everything away, and sit quietly at your desk to wait for
instructions.” Telling the students that they have a time limit for whatever
they’re about to do motivates them to move faster, which is why I will tell
them they have 60 seconds. I also will make sure to remind them that
they should be sitting quietly at their desk once they are finished cleaning
up so that they know what to do.
10:09 Teacher 3. After the 60 seconds have gone by, I will be standing in the front of the
classroom waiting for each student to be sitting quietly at their desk. If
students continue to be loud, I might start calling students out who are
sitting quietly by saying, “I like how [student name] is sitting quietly at
their desk”, which will remind students to do the same. Once everyone is
sitting quietly, I will review the classroom rules and expectations by
saying “When we are lining up, I expect you all to remain quiet, and get
into one straight, single-file line. When we are walking in the hallway, you
all should still be silent, and you should be walking on the right side of
the hallway till we get to where we’re going.”

4. I will then announce to students, “I’m going to be calling one table at a

time to go line up, but I will only call on a table to line up if their desks are
clean, the area around them is clean, the students at that table are seated,
and the students at that table are quiet.” After I announce this, I will look
around the room and examine which tables are being quiet. I will then
pick the table which is behaving the best, and say “Table number
[whichever table number is acting the best], go ahead and line up quietly.”,
then I will look for the next table and say, “Table number [whichever table
number is acting second best], go ahead and line up quietly.”, and this will
be repeated until all four tables have gone to line up.
10:10 Teacher 5. Once all students are lined up at the door, I will go to the front of the line
by the door and make sure the entire line is remaining quiet, and that
everyone is in a straight line ready to go. If students are not being quiet, I
will remind the whole class of my previous instructions by saying,
“Remember earlier how I said that I expect you all to remain quiet while
lining up.”, which will remind students that they need to be quiet.
10:11 Teacher 6. After everyone is quiet and ready to go, I will open the door for the
students and they will walk out on their own while I wait for majority of
the line to walk out. I will do this because it ensures that the students in
the back of the line will remain quiet, rather than me leaving first and
turning my back to all of the students so I can no longer see them, I am
able to watch them all better this way. If a student starts to get noisy, I will
tell them, “Please be quiet while walking.”, and if a students get out of line
or is running, I will tell them, “Please stay in the line behind the person in
front of you.”, ensuring that they follow my expectations.
10:11 Student 7. When we get to our destination, I will stop and wait at the door for all
students to be looking ahead, in a straight single-file line, and quiet. Once
my expectations are met, I will open the door for them and let them in to
wherever they are going, while also saying goodbye to them and ensuring
that they are still following directions.
