GENERAL RULES
1. PI FAIR 2022 Smart Competition will be held virtually via ZOOM.

2. Participants of the PI FAIR 2022 Smart Competition must be undergraduate students and must be active students until the end of this event.

3. There will be only 10 teams that proceed to the competition.

4. All participants of one team are allowed from different majors but must be from the same university.

5. Each university can send representative to up to 3 teams. And the selected teams will be confirmed via email.

6. The registration form must be submitted before the specified deadline.

7. The decision of the judges is final and absolute.

8. Each participant must attend the Technical Meeting on September 15, 2022 through Zoom teleconference (The zoom link will be given by each team Liaison
Officer).

9. The result of competition will be announced on PIFAIR 2022 Awarding Night.

10. Competition rules are subject to change anytime. Any change in regulations, clarification, and schedule will be announced to all participants via email.

11. Questions about the rules and inquiries regarding this competition may be asked through chat via WhatsApp to the contact person of the Smart Competition.

12. Before the round starts, the committee will check the surrounding condition of all the participants.

13. Participants will deliver verbal communication during the competitions in English.

14. All participants have to make sure that they are not in a noisy environment, have supporting equipment (laptop, personal computer, etc) and have a good
internet connection.
COMPETITION FORMAT
1. There will be 3 rounds: Elimination round, semi-final round and final round
2. The committee will invite each team to the meeting room.
3. In the elimination round, each meeting room consists of 2 (two) teams, the host, the moderator,
and the judge.
4. The elimination round will be given compulsory questions and toss-up questions.
5. The semi-final round will be given description or state, compulsory, or calculation questions.
6. The final round has 2 (two) stages consisting of a Jeopardy round and a Crossword Puzzle x Guess
What Round
7. Bonus Question will be given after the team can answer two questions in a row for Elimination
Round and Semi-final Round
ROUND TYPE
● Elimination Round
In this Elimination Round, all teams will be competing in a room at the specified time. Each
team must collect as many points as possible. In this round, 15 questions are being asked
(including compulsory questions and picture guessing questions). If there are conditions
where teams have the same score, we will proceed to the additional round.
● Semifinal Round
In the semi-final round stage, 5 teams that will be divided into 2 rooms. The highest score
team will directly proceed into final round. The committee will spin the wheel for the match.
Each room consists of 2 teams that will compete. This round will have 15 questions (
description or state, compulsory, and calculation questions). Semifinal round will be
conducted into 2 matches. For second match, the committee will spin again for the team
matching. The score will be accumulated.
If teams have the same score, we will proceed to the additional round if there are conditions.
● Final Round
There are 3 (Three) teams competing in a room at the specified time in the Final Round. Each
team must collect as many points as possible. This round has 2 (two) stages consisting of a
Jeopardy round and a Crossword Puzzle x Guess What Stage with a long answer. Each stage
for 30 minutes.
FINAL ROUND: STAGE TYPE
● Jeopardy Stage
In this round, the three teams will try to choose a question randomly from the screen. There
are many packages of questions grouped into several categories, and the price for each
question is different. To choose a box, the three teams must first correctly answer the key
questions to choose a box. The wrong answer means minus based on the box's points, and
the correct answer means plus based on the box's points.

● Crossword Puzzle x Guess What Stage


In this final round, each team will fight for the highest points. Each team must answer
correctly the questions given by the question moderator in a scramble with buzz. If the
judges declare the statement true, each team has the right to complete the mini-game
provided.

If you complete the mini-game, the team will gain 150% points. If it is incomplete, the team will
gain normal points.

● Judges
There will be three judges. All judges’ decisions are based on the regulations above, and the awarding point will
be final.
● Moderator
The moderator will guide the entire competition and enforce the rules and regulations.
● Question Moderator
The question Moderator will read the question one by one to the teams clearly
● Timekeeper
The timekeeper will enforce time limits and supervise the game clock.
● Scorekeeper
The Scorekeeper will keep the official score. The competition will be considered final until the scorekeeper has
declared the official score.
● Operator
The operator will help the participants during the competition day.
● Co-host
The co-host is the meeting room host and will be in charge of inviting participants to the meeting room.
● Liaison Officer
Responsible for giving information from the committee to participants.
TIME

1. All participants must join the main room at least 5 minutes before the event. Tardiness of
more than 5 minutes from the scheduled time may result in a penalty unless the lateness
is the fault of the tournament officials.
2. The clock used by the tournament officials is the official time, and it is absolute.

3. Each participant should be at the zoom lobby at least 15 minutes before the match starts
4. After the moderator has finished reading the questions and the buzz has been pressed,
the first team that presses the buzzer will have 10 seconds to answer the question, 20
seconds to answer the explanation and bonus questions, and 30 seconds to answer the
calculation questions.
5. If you have pressed the buzzer and do not answer until the time runs out, it will be
considered wrong.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENT
1. Participants can bring a pen, blank paper, and a calculator to the meeting.
2. During the question-and-answer session, participants cannot use any reference materials.
3. For the competition, each participant should have a device (computer, laptop, tablet, etc.)
with a stable internet connection and the ability to use a camera and a microphone.
4. Before the competition, participants must download and install the Zoom meeting
platform.
5. Each participant must have a buzz on the website ready for the competition.
6. There will be no further tolerance if a participant's connection or device is disrupted during
the competition. We recommend that all competitors arrange an internet connection and
any other malfunctioning expectations before the competition
SOURCES
Question materials are consisted based of petroleum engineering (reservoir,
production, and drilling), bioenergy, and geothermal questions.

Questions will include history, trivia, current affairs, technical questions, calculations,
and problem-solving petroleum industry.
