How to use the R.A.C.E.

strategy:
R - Restate key words A - Answer all parts
All questions have specific KEYWORDS. Some questions have multiple parts.

TIP:
Find 1-2 important words from the TIP:
question and put them in your answer. Look for the question marks. If there are 2
EXAMPLE: question marks, you probably have 2
If the question is mostly about volcanoes, separate questions to answer.
the word “volcano” should be in your answer!

C- Cite evidence E- Explain your answer

Sea turtles are some of the endangered? How can we save them?

Unfortunately, almost all kinds of
sea turtles are endangered. This
means they are at risk of going
extinct. Humans are the biggest
threat to endangered animals.
Sea turtles are killed for many
reasons: their shells, meat, and
skin. Sometimes they are also killed
accidentally by fishermen. Water
pollution in the oceans is another
main cause of death for these
beautiful animals. Poisonous
chemicals are dumped into the
ocean and destroy the turtles’
habitats.
