How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
I want my students to create a podcast about weather patterns. I will introduce this tool to them by
using it at the beginning of the lesson. Before the students create their own podcasts, I will show the
class how to use it and then put them into groups. As a group, the students must come up with a
creative way to demonstrate their understand of weather patterns. The teacher will help the

students throughout the process to make sure that the students are completing the assignment
correctly and using the technology tool correctly. The teacher will also bounce around to all the
groups to answer any questions that the students may have. The teacher will grade each one and
talk to the groups about their grades individually. To conclude the lesson, the students will all share
their podcasts with the class. The teacher will then lead the students in a group discussion about the
podcasts and what the students have learned not only from their own project but also from
everybody else’s.
Managing student learning: The podcast causes a shift from passive to active social learner behaviors
because it allows students to be creative and have a voice. All students must participate in the podcast to
receive a grade. The students will submit a plan (storyboard) before using the tool and will also have
co-use/co-engagement.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
This activity supports all students because it is accessible. There is a script to follow along and
recordings. This tool uses multiple means of engagement and representation because it has multiple
elements to get listeners engaged and it has multiple ways to represent the materials (script and
recording).
Reflection:
I feel like the activities will impact student learning by making learning a fun and engaging
experience. I am most excited about the students being able to create their own podcasts. It will be
fun to hear all the ideas that the groups come up with and to see how creative the students can be.
