AUTOMATIC TELLER MACHINE(ATM)

1. PROBLEM STATEMENT

The project entitled ATM system has a drastic change to that of the older
version of banking system, customer feel inconvenient with the transaction method as it was
in the hands of the bank employees.
In our ATM system, the above problem is overcome here, the transactions are
done in person by the customer thus makes the customers feel safe and secure.
Thus the application of our system helps the customer in checking the balance
and transaction of the amount by validating the pin number therefore ATM system is more
user friendly

FIG 1.1
2.overview

Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is a network protocol designed to facilitate the

simultaneous handling of various types of traffic streams (voice, data, and video) at very high
speeds over the same physical connection. By always using 53-byte cells, ATM simplifies
the design of hardware, enabling it to quickly determine the destination address of each cell.
This allows simple switching of network traffic at much higher speeds than are easily
accomplished using protocols with variable sizes of transfer units, such as Frame Relay and
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
3.SCOPE.

ATMs are convenient, allowing consumers to perform quick self-service transactions such as
deposits, cash withdrawals, bill payments, and transfers between accounts. Fees are
commonly charged for cash withdrawals by the bank where the account is located, by the
operator of the ATM, or by both.

4.PRODUCT FUNCTIONS

The ATM identifies a customer by a cash card and password. It collects information

about a simple account transaction (e.g., deposit, withdrawal, transfer, bill payment),
communicates the transaction information to the customer's bank, and dispenses
cash to the customer.

 The software should support a computerized banking network

 Each bank provides its own computer to maintain its own accounts and process
transactions. against them

 Automatic teller machines communicate with the banks, computers

 An automatic teller machine accepts a cash card and interacts with the user
communicates with the bank computer to carry out the transaction dispenses cash and
prints receipts.

 The system requires appropriate record keeping and security provisions.

 The system must handle concurrent access to the same account correctly.

 The banks will provide their own software for their own computers. The cost of the shared
system will be apportioned to the banks according to the number of customers.

5.USER CHARACTERISTICS

 There are several users of the ATM network:-

 The customer interacts with the ATM network via the ATM , It must be very easy for them to
use the ATM.
 They should be supported by the system in every possible way Maintainer, It should be
easy to maintain the whole system.

 The maintainer should be the only person that is allowed to connect a new ATM to the
network.

6.CONSTRAINTS

 Before the transaction is carried out, a check is performed by the machine to ensure
that a minimum amount of Rs 1000/ is left in the user’s account .

 The minimum amount a user can deposit is Rs 100/

and the maximum amount he can deposit is Rs 10,000/.

 A user can select only that cellular operator for mobile bill clearings that is supported
by the bank.

 There shall be a printer installed with the machine to provide the user with the printed
statement of the transactiion.

 For voice interaction speakrs should also be there to accompany the

machine.
