Supreme Court Rulings (Jurisprudence, or case law)

 Article 8 of the Civil Code provides that Judicial decisions applying or interpreting
the laws or the Constitution shall form part of the legal system of the Philippines. The
decisions referred to by this article are rulings made by the Supreme Court. Decisions
of the SC interpreting or applying the law assume the same authority as the statutes to
which they apply or interpret until they are abandoned by an en-banc resolution.
