Cognitive Model

The cognitive concept proposes that people’s ideas and mental processes impact their

personalities. Metacognition, or thoughtful about our reasoning, is a crucial aspect of this

concept. “Analyzing and confronting our defective thinking processes is at the basis of all

cognitive theories” (Lecci, 2015).  Bandura is a well-known theorist who shared influences from

the cognitive viewpoint to create the socio-cognitive model hybrid. Given the cognitive theory, I

think Bandura’s notion of modeling work is of the utmost pertinent to personality development.

Bandura suggested that people learn in several ways, and modeling is crucial. Modeling

is a knowledge process by witnessing people’s behavior (Jackson, 1978). We acquire a majority

of central habits through imitation, as per Bandura. People know how to accomplish something

by seeing someone else do it. Humans learn to avoid it when we observe someone being

penalized for aberrant or illegal behavior. Similarly, we are inspired to do the same when we

witness someone conduct an activity and receive a reward.
