ASSIGNMENT 3
MINI GROUP PROJECT INSTRUCTION
BDA 20103 DYNAMICS
SEM 1 2021/2022
INTRODUCTION
This is a mini group project or group assignment based on the case studies. This mini project is
required for the student to present their own ideas and also write a report by group. Each group
will consist of FIVE students. Each of the group should submit a report and present the work.
CASE STUDY
The case study should address the topics learnt for the dynamics as follows:
WP1 1) As a theory‐based understanding of natural science is needed (WK1), the students are
required to demonstrate the use of kinematic and/or kinetic of rigid bodies of complex
WP2 engineering problem in real application.
2) An understanding of a conceptually‐based mathematics and information science to
support analysis should be strengthen (WK2). Then, a motion of the selected
mechanism shall be demonstrated, observed, analyzed and concluded as well as
compare the result of experimental and theoretical approach.
3) The elements of motion such as translation, rotation and general plane motion shall be
WP4
identified and included in this assignment. It should represent the theoretical
frameworks of the engineering knowledge (WK4)
4) As to enhance the understanding of theoretical frameworks of the engineering
WP4 knowledge (WK4). A second Newton’s law shall be associated to the project or any other
parameters such as principal of work and energy, impulse and momentum, direct and
oblique impact need to be applied whenever possible to the case study.
ASSESSMENT (REPORT & PRESENTATION)
The grade will be determined by the following categories;
1. Written report will contribute about 5% of total credit (refer to Mini Group Project
Evaluation Rubrics PLO 11 ‐ Problem Analysis).
The report should not exceed 20 pages and preferably in English.
The format report shall consist of the followings :‐
TITLE PAGES: name of std/group, ID/matrix numbers, project title.

2. Oral presentation will contribute about 5% of total credit (refer to Mini Group Project
Evaluation Rubrics PLO 05 – Individual and Team Work). Each group will lead a
maximum 10‐15 minutes presentation and discussion and all students should participate
in this session.
NOTE:
1. This mini project is organized on group basis in order to encourage individual
participation in group discussion in solving complex engineering problem.
2. Interaction with lecturer for direction is suggested.
3. Report writing is strictly an individual group effort and any plagiarism is prohibited.
4. This mini group project will contribute 10% of OVERALL MARKS for report and
presentation in this course.
