PRACTICAL TASKS
Task 1. At present there is discussion in Britain about the idea of establishing
a “national day” (which Britain has never had). National days usually
commemorate some important event in a country’s history. Which event in British
history do you think is most worthy of such commemoration?

Task 2. How would you describe the changing relations between religion and
politics in British history? Are the changes that have taken place similar to those in
your country?

Task 3. Britain is unusual among European countries in that, for more than
300 years now, there has not been a single revolution or civil war. Why do you
think this is?

Task 4. Creative assignments. Tell the tale behind the flag named “the Red
Dragon” and the prophecy related to it.

Task 5. Creative assignments. Write a short summary on the alternative


history of the UK (or one of its parts) and present it in class.
