Brief History of the Country
The history of Indonesia has been shaped by geographic position, its
natural resources, a series of human migrations and contacts, wars and
conquests, as well as by trade, economics and politics. Indonesia is a
country of 17,000 to 18,000 islands (8,844 named and 922 permanently
inhabited) stretching along the equator in South East Asia. The country's
strategic sea-lane position fostered inter-island and international trade;
trade has since fundamentally shaped Indonesian history. The area of
Indonesia is populated by peoples of various migrations, creating a
diversity of cultures and languages. The landforms and climate
signi cantly in uenced agriculture and trade, and the formation of states.

Nature of ECONOMY and GDP
The economy of Indonesia is the largest in Southeast Asia and is one
of the emerging market economies.It is the 17th largest economy in the
world by nominal GDP and the 7th largest in terms of GDP (PPP).
Estimated at US$40 billion in 2019, Indonesia's Internet economy is
expected to cross the US$130 billion mark by 2025. Indonesia depends
on domestic market and government budget spending and its ownership
of state-owned enterprises. The administration of prices of a range of
basic goods (including rice and electricity) also plays a signi cant role in
Indonesia's market economy.However, since the 1990s, the majority of
the economy has been controlled by individual Indonesians and foreign
companies.

• Indonesia gdp growth rate for 2021 was 3.69%, a 5.76%
increase from 2020.
• Indonesia gdp growth rate for 2020 was -2.07%, a 7.08%
decline from 2019.
• Indonesia gdp growth rate for 2019 was 5.02%, a 0.15%
decline from 2018.
• Indonesia gdp growth rate for 2018 was 5.17%, a 0.1%
increase from 2017.

Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)


Foreign direct investment (FDI) is an investment made by a company or
an individual in one country into business interests located in another
country.

• Indonesia foreign direct investment for 2020 was $19.18B, a 23.28%


decline from 2019
• Indonesia foreign direct investment for 2019 was $24.99B, a 32.17%
increase from 2018
• Indonesia foreign direct investment for 2018 was $18.91B, a 7.8%
decline from 2017
• Indonesia foreign direct investment for 2017 was $20.51B, a 351.6%
increase from 2016.

Relationship of India with the country


India and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1951.India and
Indonesia are among the largest democracies in the world. Both
countries are neighbours, as India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share
a maritime border with Indonesia along the Andaman Sea.India regards
Indonesia as a key member of ASEAN. Both nations had agreed to
establish a strategic partnership. The two countries have signi cant
bilateral trade.Indonesia has emerged as the second largest trading
partner of India in the ASEAN region. Bilateral trade has increased from
US$ 4.3 billion in 2005-06 to US$ 21 billion in 2018-19.

Famous Things of Austria
• VOLCANOS-Indonesia is famous for its volcanos. They are pretty much
everywhere and erupting all the time. To be more precise, Indonesia has
147 volcanos, and 76 of them are active.

• KOMODO DRAGONS -It’s the only country in the world that has living,
breathing dinosaurs.

• RELIGION-Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population


on the planet. It’s home to roughly 12% of all Muslims on Earth. 87% of
the Indonesians are Muslim .

• Borobudur-It is the biggest Buddhist temple ever found and something


Indonesia is famous for all around the world.
Overall Exports and Imports

The total value of exports (FoB) was 163,192 million. The


total value of imports (CIF) was 141,569 million. At the HS6
digit level, 3,916 products were exported to 213 countries
and 4,437 products were imported from 226 countries.
