Course Module-Chemistry
Course Module-Chemistry
Course Module-Chemistry
Prerequisites:
The concepts developed in this course will aid in quantification of several concepts in chemistry that have been introduced at the 10+2 levels in
schools. Technology is being increasingly based on the electronic, atomic and molecular level modifications.
Quantum theory is more than 100 years old and to understand phenomena at nanometer levels, one has to base the description of all chemical
processes at molecular levels.
COURSE OUTCOMES
Develop innovative methods to produce soft water for industrial use and potable water at cheaper cost.
Understand the concept of complexes formation and theories related to these
Understand the applications and concept of different spectroscopic techniques
Apply their knowledge for protection of different metals from corrosion
Have the knowledge of stereochemistry of different molecules and chirality
Understand various periodic properties
Learn the mechanisms of organic reactions
Analyse microscopic chemistry in terms of atomic and molecular orbitals and intermolecular forces.
Rationalise bulk properties and processes using thermodynamic considerations.
Distinguish the ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum used for exciting different molecular energy levels in various
spectroscopic techniques.
Rationalise periodic properties such as ionization potential, electronegativity, oxidation states and electronegativity.
List major chemical reactions that are used in the synthesis of molecules.

Attendance Policy:
It is compulsory for all the students to have 75% attendance in each subject at the end of the semester failing which the student will not be
allowed to write the final exam.
Attendance Marks
76% to 80% 02
81% to 85% 03
86% to 90% 04
91% to 95% 05
Presentation:
Presentation will be held during the semester about which you will be informed well in advance. The rules for presentation are :
Each student has to deliver individual presentation.
The topic of each student will be decided by the Course Instructor.
The Presentation Topic will be given in advance atleast 10 days before the date of presentation.
Students must come in strict formals on the day of presentation.
It is COMPULSORY for all the students to deliver the Presentation in order to clear the Internals of that subject.
Every Presentation should include at least 5 MCQs related to the topic of the presentation.
Every student will be given 6- 10 minutes for their presentation. There will be marks for asking queries and answering them.
Marks will be given for sharing some additional information on the topic to the person other than presenter.
Note
There will be NO RETAKE of Mid-Semester Examinations. The students are advised to appear in all the evaluation parameters as per
Class Calendar with preparation to avoid any inconvenience.
If any student is caught copying or using unfair means in any evaluation parameter, then that student will get Internal
REAPPEAR in that subject.
The date of conduct of all the Evaluation parameters will be plotted in the Class Calendar. You are supposed to follow the Class
Calendar to keep a track of the date of conduct of all the evaluation parameters.
You should read the college Rule Book thoroughly to avoid any confusion. Feel free to ask queries if any.
