Prerequisites:

The concepts developed in this course will aid in quantification of several concepts in chemistry that have been introduced at the 10+2 levels in
schools. Technology is being increasingly based on the electronic, atomic and molecular level modifications.

Quantum theory is more than 100 years old and to understand phenomena at nanometer levels, one has to base the description of all chemical
processes at molecular levels.

 Introduction to dual nature of matter

 Intro to complex formations and theories
 Intro to Organic reactions
 Intro to stereochemistry and spectroscopy
 Concept of corrosion , thermodynamics, water and electrochemistry
 Various Periodic properties

COURSE OUTCOMES

After studying this Course, the Students will be able to:-

 Develop innovative methods to produce soft water for industrial use and potable water at cheaper cost.
 Understand the concept of complexes formation and theories related to these
 Understand the applications and concept of different spectroscopic techniques
 Apply their knowledge for protection of different metals from corrosion
 Have the knowledge of stereochemistry of different molecules and chirality
 Understand various periodic properties
 Learn the mechanisms of organic reactions

 Distinguish the ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum used for exciting different molecular energy levels in various
spectroscopic techniques.
 Rationalise periodic properties such as ionization potential, electronegativity, oxidation states and electronegativity.
