Stage 1: Desired Results


PERFORMING/LISTENING: Students will develop understanding of the elements
GLOs:
and structures of music as they apply to music making and listening.
Students will:
- Playing accurate rhythms and notes in the form of songs (“Louie
Louie”, “What I Like About You”).
- Learning to execute music on guitar, bass, keys, drums and voice
by interpreting aural and written information (song charts,
SLOs: fretboard charts).
- Listening to the differences of pitch/rhythm in songs (“Louie Louie”
“What I LIke About You”) for rock drumbeat, guitar parts, keys,
basslines, and vocals.
- Reading fingering charts (power chord charts), and song charts
(“Louie Louie” “What I Like About You”).
Students will:
• Apply (B) strumming techniques/patterns (P) to changing 5th chords
(power chords) for “Louie Louie” and “What I Like About You”.
• Play songs “Louie, Louie” and “What I Like About You” with 5th chords
(power chords) in preparation for a Gatorstock Concert on November
Learning 28th.
Objectives • Learn the bassline for both songs.
• Learn the drumline for both songs
• Learn the vocal lines (melody and lyrics) for both songs.
• Learn the keyboard line, optional for students.
• Participate in a Performance Exam playing all three guitar parts for
both songs, including rhythm guitar, bassline, and guitar solo.

Introduction: Intro/Warm-up

- Good morning grade 6s. Today I will start with our
