AUTOMATION (Theory & Lab)

Experiment Number: 7-C Date:15/03/2021
Aim: Design, simulate and testing of Pneumatic circuits to study the Multi cycle automation of DAC.

Components Required:
Designation Description
A Double acting cylinder
Compressed air supply
B1 One-way f low control valve
B2 One-way f low control valve
C1 5/3-way pneumatic valve
E1 3/2-way valve with pushbutton
Compressed air supply
E2 3/2-way valve with pushbutton
Compressed air supply
D1 3/2-way valve with pushbutton

Circuit Description:
 Double acting Cylinder : The actuator in which the two way flow is accepted where in the
compression phase in one is the expansion phase in the other.
 Flow Control Valve : Determines the flow rate to be accepted and also the the directional
determination considering the flow rate of the fluid.
 Directional Control Valve : Detrmines the direction of fluid flow with respect to the port
positions.
 Tank : The excess of the fluid( as it is air in pneumatics) is returned to compresseor or pumped
into the system.
Working of the Circuits:
 The fluid is flown through the system with manually operated valve
 The 5/3 way pneumatic valve determines the directional fluid flow with respect to the port
positions such that the push button operation will well determine the [poart poaition
thereby the direction of flow.
 The flow control valves make sure that the actuator does not get affected due to more
discharge .
 One Bothe the valves are solenoid operated reducing the inplace operation.
 But ultimately operated by the hand lever where in which the operated is completely
dependent if it is closed with respect to its port positions.
