Proposed Project Title

E-Attendance System Using RFID

Aim of Research
- To develop a system that can track the children’s whereabouts at school.
- To be able to track the whereabouts of the children by scanning the RFID cards at the checkpoint.
- To create a function that will alert the parents when the children are out of reach for a certain period.

Description
Due to the increased occurrence of kidnapping, parents are concerned about their children these days. Therefore, it is the duty of the school
to look after its children. If the students are absent from class at the scheduled time, the school must also be aware of this in advance and be
able to notify the parents. This system makes sure that students are secure by informing parents of several significant student statuses, such
as in-time, out-time, and all aspects of their arrival. Utilizing RFID technology makes it simple to follow students, improving the security
and safety in a chosen area.

Approach
For starters I will be doing research on how to develop the RFID card reader and then I can proceed in developing the attendance system
using Android Studio. For the RFID card reader, I will require the RFID card reader kit and a RFID card, this could be easily bought from
local technology stores. Then I will be developing the system using Android Studio and here is where my coding skills will be tested, I will
be doing more research on the coding as well during this time. After both system is complete then I can proceed with the merging or
combining both system and hopefully it will work. Any problem occurs during the development of this system I will seek guidance from my
supervisor, coordinator, friends, and online sources. Only when the prototype is perfectly working, I will think about how to improve it.

Risk analysis
- New system that might take some time to be implemented
- Cost of developing the prototype
- Error in combining the system (RFID card reader system and the attendance system)

Contingency Planning
Revise all the materials that I’ve gathered and try other options in developing my system and in preparing the RFID cards.

References / Background
As RFID becomes more common implementing it in our school system is the right way to go and it will also provide more ease of feelings to
all the parent out there. Statistically in Malaysia an average of 4 children under the age of 12 goes missing everyday and this is very
concerning. With the help of the system, they should not be worried about where their children are, and they can also be notified if anything
happen to them, and immediate action could be taken to find or rescue those children.

All the highlighted skills are the ones I will be bringing into the project and the ones that I wished to
develop more is on networking systems and network security to further increase the security of my
system from any online threats. For now, my knowledge on using IoT and Android Studio will be
tested, and I will have to do more research on both. I hope that I will be able to create a working
prototype and improve it in the future after I gain more knowledge on the topics.
