OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF RICE COMBINE HARVESTER

I. INTRODUCTION

Combine Harvester commonly known as 'combine' is a key invention that

saves cost and time for farmers. Like the name suggests, this machine simply combines
the three major harvesting operations – reaping, threshing, and winnowing into a single
process. The modern combine harvester, or simply combine, is a versatile machine
designed to efficiently harvest a variety of grain crops. Clean and maintain the combine
rice harvester after harvesting. There are often some soil and other sundries in the
machine after harvesting which will corrode the combine harvester or cause blocking of
the machine. So clean the machine and oil the machine after harvesting and then store
it in a dry and airy place.Rice combine harvester is used for the harvesting of rice or
wheat. A combine rice harvester can finish the whole processes of rice or wheat
harvesting from harvesting, threshing and grain cleaning. Using the machine properly
can not only improves the working efficiency but also can prolong its service life.

II. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to learn and
perform actual operation of four-wheel tractor with implement.

III. METHODOLOGY

1. Make a research on the step-by-step procedures on how to operate rice combine

harvester.
2. Provide an illustration of the step-by-step process by means of an image.

IV. DISCUSSIONS/ILLUSTRATIONS

1. Start the harvester before harvesting.

2. choose proper harvesting time.
3. Adjust the header of the rice harvester
4. control the working speed.
5. The machine should run straightly.
6. Made the throttle valve at medium or opening position when
harvesting
7. clean and maintain the harvester after harvesting.

V. CONCLUSIONS

This study proved that the field speed of combine harvester have influenced the
grain loss during harvesting. The best field speed was found to be 3.87 km/h, which
significantly gave the lowest grain loss around 0.67%, which also contributed to the
profits losses of MYR8. 04/ha (USD 1.96/ha). The positive impacts of the use of
combine harvester technology on the socio-economic conditions of the farmer users
are: (1) The allocation of labor or work time in the farm is reduced, thus increasing the
leisure time that can be used for other productive activities, (2) production cost
decreases, (3) more income is.The combine could travel faster than a header because
the horses pulled instead of pushed (Keith). They walked in front of the thresher portion,
the wheat was to the side of them (Doty). The combine could harvest 40 acres a day
instead of a couple hundred a season that the thresher could produce (Schillinger).
