PLTV’s Guide to the 2022 Midterms!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th, 2022. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If
you get in line to vote prior to 8 p.m. but are still waiting in line after, do not leave. You have the
right to vote at your location as long as you are in line before 8 p.m.!
You can find your polling location here.

If you have a mail-in or absentee ballot for Pennsylvania, it must be received by the County
Election Board by 8 p.m. on November 8th. This can be done by mail, in-person to your county
election office, or by drop-box in some counties.
Locations for all of the above can be found here, and you can check the status of your ballot
here.

The tickets and issues on the ballot are as follows (This does not include uncontested races):

Special Ballot Questions:


Question 1 (Vote Yes or No):
Should the Philadelphia Home Rule Charter be amended to create the Department of Aviation
and to transfer certain functions related to the operations of City airports from the other City
agencies to the Department of Aviation?
Background: Currently, the Division of Aviation of Philadelphia that is responsible for managing
the airport’s various facilities is a division under the Department of Commerce.
● Voting “Yes” would mean you wish for the city of Philadelphia to create a Department of
Aviation separate from the Department of Commerce that carries the same
responsibilities.
● Voting “No” would mean you wish for the Department of Aviation to remain as a division
under the Department of Commerce.
Question 2 (Vote Yes or No):
Shall The Philadelphia Home Rule Charter be amended to provide for a preference in civil
service examinations for qualified graduates of Career Technical Education programs in the
School District of Philadelphia?
Background: To work in Philadelphia city government, you apply by completing a civil service
exam and are assessed based on the results of the relevant tests.
● Voting “Yes” would mean you wish for there to be a preference for applicants who are
graduates of Career Technical Programs in the Philadelphia school district.
● Voting “No” would mean you wish for the application to remain the same and for there to
be no preference for such applicants.
