Sales Letter

1. Sales Letter
Sales letter is one of the official letters used to promote a product to the
other company, which generally contains words that can draw the attention of the
other company or other parties to what we offer.
2. How to Write Sales Letter
To write a sales letter there are several things that you should know there are :
a. Write a catchy headline that grabs your customer's attention.

Tell potential customers what they need in one sentence. Make it memorable-this
may be the only thing they see.

b. Hook the reader by identifying what they need and why.

Addressing the unspoken needs of the sales prospect will connect them to your
product. If you can explain why this product or service will benefit them, your
potential customer will pay more attention to your words.

c. Include bullet points with key information.

A bulleted list will help readers see the information you want to highlight. Use
this list to build on your headline and hooks.

d. Use testimonials or statistics.

A sales letter should show readers the value of your product. Include testimonials
and statistics in your bullet points so readers who scan can quickly see valuable
information that helps sell your product.

e. Give readers a call to action.

Your readers need to be motivated to move beyond the page and do something to
act on your offer. Help them by presenting a clear, actionable step in your letter.
If you are using email, a direct link or action button should be included. In print
marketing, use graphics and font to call attention to the action.

f. Offer something to the customer that is limited in time or quantity.

An effective sales technique is to heighten the immediacy or make the need feel
greater for a potential customer by introducing a timeline for a deal. This
technique is also used by limiting the number of items available for the offer.

Giving the consumer a timeframe to take action is more motivating in this type of
sales pitch.

g. Use a postscript (p.s.) to add a guarantee or personal address.

Using a postscript is another way to connect with customers and make your letter
feel more personal. It's also another way to emphasize your offer in a scannable
way.

3. Structure Sales Letter

a. Headline

Here the writer wants to grab the reader’s attention toward the main purpose of the
letter. In this part include with sender information and reciepent information.

b. Date

In this part we used the date of issuing letter.

c. Salutation

Salutation is written below the date and above the introduction of the letter. They
are Dear Sir or Madam, Dear Sir, Dear Madam, Dear Mr + Surname, Dear Mrs +
Surname, Dear Miss + Surname, Dear Ms +Surname, Dear + First Name.

d. Introduction

It is the introductory paragraph. Introduction in the sales letter provides the details
of the product or the service. It also provides the reader with the cost, quality,
saving and other related information.

e. Body

Here the writer builds his credibility. The writers provide with the worth of the
product, its difference from other similar products, a list of satisfied customers,
terms of contract etc.

f. Call to Action

In this section, the writer asks for the reader’s response and can express the
gratitude. It also includes various details like warranty, discount etc.

g. Complimentary Close

Complimentary close is the closing of the letter consisting of the name and
signature of the sender of the letter.

4. Sales letter including booklet or catalogue
In promoting a product sometimes the company does not just send a sales letter but
the company will directly include a catalogue or brochure and booklet as an
overview of what kind of products are offered to other company, so that others
become more confident and can increase interest in the products that the company
offers. in the sales letter attaching the catalog, there is no default rule that we use to
indicate that we are attaching the catalog. Here is an example sentence that can be
used to indicate that we are attaching a catalogue. There are :
a. Here we attach a catalog of the products we will offer so that you can be more
interested in our products.
b. I thought I would send you our brochure, which features our new Sea Dreams
line of fountains.
c. I thought I would send you our catalog, which features the new Boldoni Line we
were discussing. Considering the number of options these come with, the
pricing is extremely reasonable.

5. Language expression used in promoting a product

If you want to promoting a product or new product you should be able to know the
language expression. Generally there are no rules governing the use of language in
an offer. the language used to promote a product is usually more focused on
language that can attract attention, create interest, and increase curiosity towards
what we offer. But, not only focusing on it, the language used must also remain in
accordance with ethics and decency.

There are three language focus that we used to promote a product :

a. Focusing attention.
in promoting a product we need to make the target just focus with what that we
promoting.
Example : We would like to draw your attention to our (new product).
May I draw your attention to our (new product).
there are two expression that we used, there are “Would” and “May” they are
little formal and more polite.
b. Offering
In offering something we should use “offering” and “offer”
Example : We are offering …… (special discount for our new product).
We can offer …… (special discount for our new product).
We are able to offer …… (special discount for our new product).
c. Expressing hope
Sometimes in promoting products we also need to show our expectations to the
target regarding the products we offer.
Example : We hope (that) you will be (pleased with the catalogue).
