CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

In every student's life, social media plays an important part. Way to get

information, giving information, and interacting via social media is often easier and more

convenient. Tutors and students can connect with each other and use these platforms

to their benefit in their learning and teaching.

There has been growing concern over senior secondary school students' usage

of social media and its influence on their lives and education during the last several

decades.

Students who spend more time on social networking platforms are more likely to

have poor academic achievement, according to previous studies. This is because

instead of reading books, kids spend their time conversing online and finding

acquaintances on social networking platforms.

The Philippines' social media users accounted for 82.4 percent of the entire

population at the start of 2022, however it's crucial to remember that social media users

may not reflect distinct persons.
