Factors affecting the Different Learning Style of

Senior High School Students in Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School

CHAPTER 3
Research Methodology

Research Design

The primary goal of this study is to determine the various factors affecting the different

learning styles of Senior High-School students in Mandaue City Comprehensive National High

School. The descriptive research design under the quantitative method was utilized in this study

since it collects quantifiable data to get the necessary information needed in this study. The

collected data of this study will be summarized, evaluated, and organized using the descriptive

research design to assess the preferred learning styles and the various factors affecting the

different learning styles of Senior High-School students in Mandaue City Comprehensive

National High School.

Research Instrument and Materials

The researchers of this study will utilize an online form and physical form of

questionnaires as primary data-gathering instruments. The researchers will use three different

questionnaires; The first questionnaire consists of the demographic profile of the senior high

school students, the second questionnaire identifies the learning style of senior high school

students and consists of twenty-five (25) questions which is divided into five (5) categories; the

first is the Visual; followed by Kinesthetic or Tactile; Auditory; Group; and lastly Individual.

The third part determines how different factors affect the senior high school students learning

styles and it also consists of twenty-five (25) questions and is categorized as Physical,

Environmental; Personal (intellectual, mental, emotional, and social), Teacher; and Self-

Learning. Both the second and third parts are likert scale questionnaires, and the provided rating

for each view is as follows: Strongly agree [5], Agree [4], Undecided [3], Disagree [2], and

Strongly Disagree [1]. The second part questionnaire was adopted from Reid’s (1987)

“Perceptual Learning Styles Preferences Questionnaire” (PLSPQ), while the third part was

adopted from Abante, M. E. R., Almendral, B. C., Manansala, J. R. E., & Mañibo, J. in the study

“Learning Styles and Factors Affecting the Learning of General Engineering Students” (2014).

Data Gathering

The purposes of this research, in surveys were used. In surveys are questions about the

learning style of senior high school students and the various factors affecting the different

learning styles. The researchers submitted this study to their consultant for approval; once

acknowledged, the data gathering will be continued. The questionnaire will be sent via
messenger or given to the respondents in person. As the correspondents finished the survey

questionnaire, the researchers will immediately tallied and gathered the information.

Statistical Analysis

Each letter's or choice's total number of answers is added. The primary method of learning

for the respondent is the area with the largest overall number of responses. the average rating for

each option, specifically, I, II, III, IV, and V are calculated by adding the corresponding total

individual responses and dividing by the overall respondents. The primary method of learning for

the respondents will be the region with the highest score. By multiplying the sum of each

respondent's individual ratings by the total number of factors under consideration, the composite

mean for each question is calculated. the factor with classification The computed composite

mean with the highest value is the one that most significantly influences the respondents'

learning.

Ethical Consideration

Ethical considerations were taken into consideration by the researchers before they began

this research. For instance, they asked the respondents' consent to participate in this study. In

addition, the researchers will protect the students' identities who participated in this study by

assuring them that their personal information will be confidential and solely used for academic

purposes. In addition, the researchers respect their reputation, rights, needs, and values. The

identities of the students who participated in this study are kept confidential to safeguard the

privacy of other individuals and organizations who may be interested in the findings.
