Ronald Villavelez

Ronald Villavelez has been writing and designing for as long as he can
remember. A voracious reader of poetry and fiction since a young age, and with
an unwavering inclination to the world of fashion, he has dabbled in both over the
years, and with his talent he has created a trail of achievements.
Today, he now heads his own atelier, Ronald Enrico, a thriving fashion house
known not only for its exquisite designs and craftsmanship, but also for its
professionalism that raises the bar in the local fashion industry. His work has
been applauded by discriminating fashion savants across the Philippines,
including celebrities who gush at the opportunity to don his creations.

Lawrence Lacambra Ypil

Lawrence Lacambra Ypil is a poet and nonfiction writer from Cebu, Philippines.


Ypil is currently a Lecturer at Yale-NUS.
He earned his first Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Poetry) while on a
Fulbright fellowship at Washington University in St Louis, and another MFA in
Non-Fiction Writing from the University of Iowa.
The Highest Hiding Place: Poems won the 2011 Madrigal-Gonzalez First Book
Award and was a finalist for the Gintong Aklat Awards in 2010.
Ypil's second book, The Experiment of the Tropics was the co-winner of the 1st
Gaudy Boy Poetry Book Prize (with Jenifer Sang Eun Park's Autobiography of A
Horse: A Poem). It was also a finalist for the Lambda Literary Awards in Gay
Poetry and on the Editor's Long List for The Believer Book Awards in 2019. The
book examines archival photographs of Ypil's hometown, Cebu, during the
American Period. Ypil describes the process of writing this book as revealing
both historical place and himself: "By looking at the photographs, I ended up
looking through them, and eventually discovered myself. It felt like looking at
beautiful, deep, dark mirrors."

Godofredo M. Roperos

Si Godofredo M. Roperos ay isinilang sa Balamban, Cebu noong 29 Mayo


1930. Nagtapos siya ng kursong Bachelor of Arts sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas
at naging miyembro ng U.P. Writer's Club. Naging editor siya ng Literary
Apprentice Mile Canastillo noong taong 1956, Saturday Times noong 1957
hanggang 1964, at naging guro at technical assistant sa Malacañang Press
Office.
Manunulat siya ng maikling kuwento. Ang mga maikling kuwentong naisulat niya
sa wikang Ingles ay The Boy Who Knew Death. Ito ay nagwagi sa Weekly
Nation Short Story Writing Contest noong 1966.
Ang koleksiyon ng kanyang mga maikling kuwentong nasulat ay may pamagat
na The Bald Mountains and Other Stories ay nalathala sa New Day noong
1984.
