Make a list of the most important leadership skills of an Entrepreneur which cut across all these
articles (5-7) that you have learnt about in this unit.

1. An entrepreneur is expected to acknowledge their employees talents and creativity by


giving proper credit which will motivate employees.
2. An entrepreneur is expected to seek self development by identifying their hindrances
for better learning and unlearning.
3. An entrepreneur must be able to take necessary risk, prepares for the unexpected and
perseveres through the difficult time.
4. An entrepreneur must be ready to accept responsibilities for their actions.
5. An entrepreneur is expected to create and maintain conducive learning environment for
their employees.
6. An entrepreneur must possess technical skills with a clear vision.
7. An entrepreneur must be able to communicate effectively with their employees as this
helps in ensuring that the company vision is clear to all (employees).
8. An entrepreneur is expected to be a role model who leads by example.
9. An entrepreneur must be able to build trust and confidence among employees to
function well as a team.
10. An entrepreneur must be able to make good and timely decisions.

WHAT WAS THE SKILL THAT WAS TOP MOST ON YOUR SCALE AND WHY?

The ability of an entrepreneur to take risks, prepares for the unexpected and persevere through
the difficult time. Basically, an entrepreneur will inevitably go through difficult times when
money gets tight or the product seems less viable under new market conditions. But the best
entrepreneurs take the right risks at the right times.

The cost of failure and the perception of risk that founders have is real particularly in emerging
innovation ecosystems like Nigeria. The ability to push through the alarm bells that go off in
oneshead when situations become difficult. Because by being able to showcase this fortitude,
entrepreneurs win where others fold.

Mistake#1: Failing to Keep a To-DoList.

Mistake#2: Not Setting Personal Goals.

Mistake#3: Not Prioritizing.

Mistake#4: Failing to Manage Distractions.

Mistake#5: Procrastination.

Mistake#6: Taking onToo Much.

Mistake#7: Thriving on “ Busy".

Mistake#8: Multi tasking.

How Could He Have Avoided Them?

 He should also have avoid procrastination, which is easy to do because allocating time,
removing distractions, breaking down large tasks and placing focus on smaller tasks.
 He should have avoided the mistakes by having a clear understanding of tasks and when
it needs to be done by.
 He should have learn how to manage interruptions and capture them in a way that
interrupts less. If one can deal with them quickly and get back to the task in hand one
will get more of it done.
 Working too hard or long is far less efficient and can lead to burnout. He should have
added breaks into schedule and buffer time to tasks.
 Although it is difficult, but learning when to say no, or not right now ’ is important.
When a new request comes, pause, weight it up and only say yes if one can fully
commit. He should have learn when to say No.
