Starting Monday, we will be using IXL to
practice operations with integers. The
students will be introduced to the material
Friday in class on paper but practice on IXL.
IXL provides individualized education that
helps students learn at their own pace with
tutorial videos on each question. Students
will complete practice problems until they
receive a full score and are given the chance
to understand mistakes. IXL provides
explanations and further practice below to
revisit concepts. Students will move up in
difficulty in practice. They have been
introduced to integer addition and
subtraction rules. The following lessons will
progress from adding and subtracting single
integers to three or more integers. Once the
students have mastered number problems,
we will practice word problems on IXL.
Homework will be assigned regularly with
IXL as a practice and studying tool. In the
following week, we will move to multiplying
and dividing integers. Students will have the
opportunity to seek additional help during
lunch periods if necessary. IXL will show all
the students' progress and I will be tracking
it daily. Parents are encouraged to complete
further practice with their children at home.

taught visually with number lines and able
to see how much time is spent practicing.

Khan Academy: Another Alongside IXL,students will be using Khan

Great Tool For Students to Academy as an additional practice resource.

Practice Math Khan Academy provides practice in a more

thorough way. They utilize videos that

complete problems step by step. Khan

pace that is personalized for each learner.

On the right is an example of how Khan

Academy guides students step by step.

There is no subscription necessary for Khan

Academy. This makes it a great resoruce

students can use for any subject. In our

math class, we will watch vidoes in class and

have students solve problems on the board

to show their understanding. Students will

complete a lesson on Khan Academy

individually and then be responsible for

completing worksheets in class. These

lessons are meant to be a basis for

understanding of integer opoerations.

Parents are welcome to Zoom in to
