Guidance Flat Webbing Sling Inspection

Prior Inspection

- Inspection is recommended to be carried out in the rigging loft. If inspector find rejected
webbing, rigging loft controller can immediately separate it to the quarantine box/container.
- Inspection accompanied by rigging loft controller.
- Avoid carrying out inspection in wet areas, soil or areas where webbing can be damaged. Use a
mat/cover if inspection is carried out on the surface.
- Perform inspection while webbing in stretched/flat condition.
Do not perform inspection if the webbing is still in roll, stacked or in condition that makes
inspection can’t to carry out optimally.
- Inspection must be carried out in adequate lighting.
- Carry out inspection one by one – part by part – point by point from eye to other eye.

- Loose material and stitching

➢ Manufacture Tag/Label
Manufacture tag color shall in accordance with webbing material
Marking shall illegible and not missing

➢ Effective Working Length (EWL)

Tolerance : 3% of nominal length

➢ Width

Min. 25 mm Max. 450 mm

Tolerance : 10% for Width less than or equal 100 mm

8% for Width more than 100 mm

➢ Thickness

For one layer sling minimum 2 mm

For multilayer sling minimum 1,2 mm each layer

➢ Eyes
- 3 x of width for width less than or equal 150 mm
- 2.5 x of width for width more than 150 mm
