Instructions on fire safety

for residents in the hostels of VyatSU Campus.

Instructions on fire safety are compulsory for residents in the hostels of VyatSU
Campus.

In case of fire flame smoke, poisonous gases (carbon monoxide and other
combustion products) and panic are huge danger.

Please, carefully read the instructions on fire safety and the evacuation plan from
the floor and from the room. It is located on the front door of your room.

1. It is not allowed to:

 store and use electrical heaters, kettles without auto-off, power-consuming


devices;
 break the wiring, hang clothes, pictures and scarves on the switch/electric
socket, wrap electric lamps with paper or cloth in the form of a lampshade;
 connect at the same time power-hungry devices to one electric outlet using a
tee, an extension cable or a surge protector, because electrical overload may
cause fire wiring;
 damage automatic fire detectors, and also carry out any other activities to
reduce their effectiveness;
 store and use pyrotechnics, fireworks, explosives, ammunition, weapons of
any sort on the territory of the campus;
 dry curtains, towels and linen in the dorm rooms;
 block up the passages and doors with things;
 smoke (including smoking hookah) in the rooms and common areas of the
hostels;
 light the candles;
 replace the locks.

2. Residents of the dormitory are required to:

 keep electrical wiring, sockets, switches and ceiling lampshades and lamps
in good repair;
 keep fire detectors of the room in good condition;
 keep your room clean and in good order;
 preserve the property of the University and prevent any vandalism in its
territory.
3. When you hear the speech notification about the fire you should turn off all
electrical appliances, take a wetted cloth for respiratory protection from smoke and
leave the building in accordance with a scheme of evacuation, alerting other
residents along the way.

4. In case of fire and the smell of burning and smoke you must immediately call 01
to inform Fire department.

5. Actions of residents in case of fire:

In case of fire in your room:

 you must immediately call 01 to inform Fire department;


 if you cannot eliminate the source of fire on your own, leave the room and
shut the door but don't lock with a key;
 you must inform a porter or a guard or other representative of the
administration about the fire;
 leave the dangerous area and follow the direction of the administration and
fire protection.

In case of fire outside your room

 you must immediately call 01 to inform Fire department;


 close the windows and the door of your room and leave the building;
 if corridors and staircase are filled strongly with smoke and you cannot leave
the building, you should stay in the room. Open the windows, close cracks
and vents with a wetted towel or bedding to protect yourself from poisonous
gases and smoke. A tightly closed door will protect you from dangerous
temperatures for a long time;
 when the fire brigade arrive, show the sign to ask for help;
 do not use the Elevator during a fire;
 you can wait out the fire on the balcony, and it’s necessary to close the door
behind you;
 if you cannot leave the building, it’s necessary to use individual rescue
device “SAMOSPAS”.

6. Residents of the dormitory are responsible for the violation of these instructions.
