Performance Management solution for Transport
networks
ENIQ is the Network Performance Management
ENIQ
system with long data retention (Months/Years) Long Data KPI E2E
• Performs KPI management, Analysis and Retention Management Reporting

Reporting
PM Data
• Reporting flexibility enabled by storing all Exposure
counters/measures, i.e., not just a preselected set Ericsson Network Manager (ENM)
of KPIs Network Health Monitor (NHM)
Network Health Analysis (NHA)
Performance Management in ENM
PM Subscription PM Data Collection and
• ENM collects PM counters and exposes collected Management Mediation
data further through NBI towards ENIQ
• Network Health Monitor (NHM) supports KPI
observability
• Network Health Analysis (NHA)* can be used to Transport Network,
visualize the individual KPIs on the graphs RAN & Core NW

*PM counter files will be stored for default 3 days, but can be extended

PM Explorer
Self-Service KPI reporting and data exploration

A framework to make it easy to

generate KPI reports or explore and
visualize your PM data.

• Simply select from a set of predefined

KPIs (or choose any counters) for
any domain.
• Define custom KPIs.
• No particular tooling or data
expertise needed to get up and
running.

| 2022-03-10 | Commercial in Confidence | Page 10

Node Collections

Use the Collection Manager to

define groups of nodes.

Performance reports can then

be generated per collection (or
for individual nodes).

Leverage the network
performance data for
troubleshooting, optimization,
capacity planning…etc.

Complete graphical flexibility:

• Bar charts
• Line charts
• Scatter plots
• Pie charts
• Map view
• Heat map
• …etc.

PM Alarming
Proactive performance monitoring

A framework to make it easy to

configure and manage KPI or
Counter threshold alarms.

• Simply select from a set of

predefined KPIs (or choose any
counters) for any domain.

• Select desired threshold breach

criteria and schedule the alarm.

• Be automatically alerted to KPI

degradations or configure
automated actions in northbound
systems.

Alarm Rules Manager

| 2022-03-10 | Commercial in Confidence | Page 18

Define/edit an alarm rule

Alarm rules can be:

— Created for a defined
collection of nodes or
against a single node.
— Defined against a KPI or
individual counters.

Configure:
— Threshold, Severity,
Scheduling, Aggregation
and define a custom
probable cause

Alarm Types
Alarm Type Description

Static Threshold Alarm is raised when the threshold is breached for the current ROP.

Continuous Occurrences Alarm is raised when the threshold is breached in one or more consecutive ROPs.

The current ROP is compared against past ROP. For example, the same time yesterday or the same
Past Comparison Detection time a week ago. An alarm is raised if the current ROP exceeds the configured delta (e.g. – KPI is
more than 10% higher or lower than the same time last week).

Past Comparison Detection + Continuous Combines the previous 2 alarm types.

Occurrences One or more consecutive current ROPs are compared against a past time period.

Average, Min or Max from a previous period (e.g. – previous day or week) is automatically calculated
and dynamically used as a baseline/threshold to check the current ROP against. If the current ROP
Dynamic Threshold deviates by more than the configured amount (e.g. – more than 10% deviation from yesterday’s
average), an alarm will be raised.
The alarm triggering threshold is dependent on another indicator and the alarm can have different
triggering thresholds based on the value of that indicator.
For example:
Case-Dependent Threshold Alarm is triggered if Call Drop KPI goes above 2% AND Connected Users is greater than 50
OR
Alarm is triggered if Call Drop KPI goes above 25% AND Connected Users is less than 4

Standard Transport Related Features in ENM & ENIQ
• ENM collect PM, FM and CM data from southbound interfaces for
connected nodes

• ENM do not have any PM database, it collects PM data from

connected nodes by SFTP and SNMP then expose it as XML files
towards NBI PM system.

• ENM shows PM data as KPI. The KPI's may be configured and

viewed in the ENM Network Health Monitor (NHM) and Network
Health Analysis (NHA).

• CM data is collected in ENM database. Parameters may be viewed

and configured in ENM.

• ENM discover topology/physical links for MINI-LINK and Router

6000 nodes.

• ENIQ is a PM database. Network Analytics (NetAn) is needed to

visualize the data. It allows searching and presenting PM data.
No standard transport reports/KPI are available by default in ENIQ.

Transport CA report examples with ENIQ and NetAn
• “CA ENIQ Transport CM Tech-pack” allows importing CM
data or any other data.
For example: HW inventory, Radio Link configuration and
planning data.

• “CA NetAn Reports” allows creation of customized and

interactive link KPI reports based on combined CM,
Topology and PM data. The PM history may be zoomed
between lowest ROP up to years.
For example: Reporting both far and near end BW
utilization for a link. It may be used when troubleshooting
current or seasonal impact.

• “CA consistency check” of CM Parameters over time or

analysis of CM and PM data
For Example: Compare link performance, configuration
parameters and/or inventory data before and after
node reconfigurations.
