H2S SCAVENGER AGENT

Many water injectors and oil producers are damaged due to the accumulation of iron sulfide deposits near
the wellbore area. For example, iron sulfide is present in water supply and injection wells as a product of sulfate
reducing bacteria (SRB). Hydrochloric acid can be used to remove iron sulfide, however this process can result
in the release of hydrogen sulfide, a toxic and corrosive gas. Moreover, hydrogen sulfide reacts with ferric ions
and precipitates elemental sulfur. Elemental sulfur is insoluble in acids, practically impossible to dissolve, and
can damage the formation.

S320 is designed to be applied in acidic stimulation treatments to prevent detrimental effect of hydrogen
sulfide on acid corrosion inhibitors. S320 should be used in acid systems with corrosion inhibitors, such S101
when high concentrations of H2S are expected in the well. The main benefits of S320:
1. Acid Soluble product
2. It is completely soluble in acid solutions and has no special mixing requirements.
3. Rapid stoichiometric reaction provides rapid removal of H2S from fluid.
4. In the presence of H2S, S320 inhibitor helps improve the performance of other organic corrosion
inhibitors.
5. It minimizes the risk of formation damage caused by iron sulfide (FeS) precipitation.

Definition:
It is used to control the corrosive effect of H2S that may be present in the acidizing fluids due to the reaction
of HCl and iron sulfide accumulated in the tubular or formation. It can be added to all concentrations of
Hydrochloric acid and up to 350 deg F. Also, S320 can be used for sour environments to help inhibition of coiled
tubing against produced H2S.

Compatibility:
S320 is compatible with metals such as: admiralty brass, aluminum, copper, mild steel, 304 stainless steel,
316 stainless steel. Plastics such as: Plexiglas, HD polyethylene, HD polypropylene, PVC, fiberglass. Elastomers
such as: TEFLON, HYPALON, VITON.

Applications:
A general concentration is 10 gal to 40 / 1000 gal. Most of the cases, 15 gal/ 1000 gal is sufficient. Higher
concentrations of S320 should be used when hydrochloric acid is expected to contact large amounts of iron
sulfide releasing high amounts of H2S.
