DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

CARBON DIOXIDE AND OXYGEN CYCLE
Grade 8 3rd Quarter

Date: May 23 2021

CONTENT STANDARD
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the one-way flow of energy and the cycling of
materials in an ecosystem.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learners should be able to make a poster comparing food choices based on the trophic
levels
LEARNING COMPETENCY
Learn and appreciate the significance of carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle to human and
environment.

I. LESSON OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson students are expected to:

a. Identify the different process of oxygen and carbon dioxide cycle.

b. Explain the process of carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle.
c. Cite the importance of carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle to all living organisms.
d. Create a diagram about carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle

STUDENT’S
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
ACTIVITY

Good morning class! Good morning, Sir

May I request everyone to please keep quiet bow your head and (Students will pray )
let us ask the guidance of all mighty God let us pray.

Let us check the attendance, unmute yourself and say Present

when I call your name
Yes sir

Before we proceed with our discussion, may I just remind you of

the several things to consider during the virtual session for
today’s discussion:

 Turn your microphone into Silent Mode in the duration of

the session.
 If you have something to say, use properly the Chat box
and unmute.
 Use the Emoticons properly.
 Avoid turning off the Camera while the
discussion is ongoing.

Before we start our lesson let us have a short recap about what
we discussed yesterday.
Last meeting we discussed the water cycle. Who can explain
how does the water cycle flow?
Yes Ms. Jean.

Excellent!

It seems that you already have an idea about water cycle.

First the water evaporates through the

became heavy the rain pours down and
Picture A – has a plenty of trees and animals the water back to the ground through
precipitation.
Pictures B – lack of trees but plenty of animals.

Class what did you noticed in these pictures?

Sir, Picture A has fresh and clean air

that’s why there are many animals and
trees living while the Picture B, animals
are few and trees were dead.
Very well answer!

So, why do you think that trees can control the air pollution?

Precisely!

Sir, Trees absorb these toxic chemicals

through their stomata, or 'pores',
Today our topic is about the Carbon dioxide Oxygen Cycle, its effectively filtering these chemicals from
importance and how it flows. the air.

Here are the objectives that will guide us in our discussion. Miss
Marie please read. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson
students are expected to:

a. Identify the different process of

carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle.
b. Explain the process of carbon dioxide
and oxygen cycle .
c. Cite the importance of carbon dioxide
and oxygen to all living organisms.
Oxygen sir
Class, what element on air does human and animals needs to
breath?

How about plants what element on air does plants need? Carbon dioxide sir

Very Good!

So, let us see how the exchange of gasses flows.

We will conduct an activity.

Aware you observe carefully and I want you to answer the

following questions after I play the video you can answer the
questions in the chat box any correct answer we’ll be given a
additional points to their recitation.

Is that clear class?

Based on the video you watched what they did to reduce the
interference to carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle? Yes sir.

Class the oxygen and carbon dioxide are easiest to identify in a ( Student will answer in the chat box)
biotic factor or organism. The organisms take oxygen from the
plant and release carbon dioxide through inhale and exhale.
When the animals release the carbon dioxide the plants take it
as one of their components in making food during
photosynthesis the plant release oxygen, the air that needed by
animals and humans through the process of respiration.

Did you understand class?

So, what will happen class if we cut all tree and destroy our
corals reef?

Yes sir

Brilliant answer class!

Sir, It result a Global warming , water
Always remember class that carbon dioxide and oxygen cycle is shortage, extinction of species.
both gases but carbon dioxide is harmful to human and animals
if it is in large amount. But plants need carbon dioxide to
produce their food and they release of oxygen gasses that need
by human and other living organisms.
Did you get it class?
Did you know class about global warming?

Yes sir

What cause of global warming ?

To generalize our topic class. Carbon dioxide– oxygen cycle is

the easiest cycle in abiotic factor and it process through
respiration between plants and animals. The carbon take we Yes sir !
exhale are needed by plants to generate food while the oxygen
release by the plants is needed by human to breathe and to
survive.

Class, what can you contribute to our environment to avoid or Sir, Global warming happens because
prevent global warming? we cut trees, destroy coral reefs and we
burn garbage and fossil fuel.
Very good!

How can you apply our lesson to your daily life?

Very well answer!

Stop burning plastic and avoid using
aerosol and do tree planting.
Is there any question or clarification?
I keep myself clean and healthy through
taking care of myself like what I did to
our environment I do planting to have a
fresh air and avoid air pollution.

None, sir.
IV - EVALUATION

Direction: Arrange the jumbled letters to identify what are being referred to in the
following statements.

1. This is one of the main elements that make up air which is necessary for humans and
animals survival.
YOGXNE – OXYGEN

2. It is said to be the “driver “ of oxygen  which is also identified as the natural process of
food making by plants.
SYTESSIHOTPONH – PHOTOSYNTHESIS

3. Plants breath in the kind of gas to survive.

BRCNAO OXDDIE – CARBON DIOXIDE

4. These are the tiny opening in the plants leaves where oxygen moves out.
MAATTOS – STOMATA

5. This is the process that keeps on repeating and repeating.

CCYEL -CYCLE

V - ASSIGNMENT

1. What are the two types of elements in the air?

2. What is Nitrogen?
