Chadwick Aaron Boseman was born in Anderson, South Carolina; November 29,
1976. He was an American actor, screenwriter and playwright.

He graduated from TL Hanna High School in 1995 and later, in 2000, he graduated
from Howard University in Washington D. C., with a degree in film directing. He
also graduated from the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, Oxfordshire.

From 2002 to 2007, he was a drama instructor at the Schomburg Junior Fellows
Program, located at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in
Harlem, New York. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career in 2008.

Between 2004 and 2008, he appeared in television series such as Law & Order,
CSI: NY, ER, among others. In 2008, he made his film debut playing Floyd Little in
the movie The Express: The Ernie Davis Story (2008), in addition to appearing
recurrently in the series Lincoln Heights.

In 2010, he was part of the main cast of the series Persons Unknown, which only
lasted one season after being canceled due to low ratings. Years later, he starred
in his first film, (2013), with the role of baseball player Jackie Robinson. The
following year, he starred as James Brown in Get on Up (2014).

He began a relationship with singer Taylor Simone Ledward in mid-2015, until they
got engaged in October 2019 and secretly married shortly after.

In 2016, he played T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War, a film that grossed $1.1
billion at the box office, which made it the highest-grossing film of 2016.

In 2018, he reprised his role as T'Challa in the same superhero's first film, Black
Panther and in Avengers: Infinity War, which grossed $1.3 billion and $2 billion at
the box office respectively, making them the second and first highest-grossing
films of 2018 in that order.

Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world for
"his portrayals of African-American heroes.

Boseman last played T'Challa in Avengers: Endgame (2019), which was the
highest-grossing film ever with a $2.7 billion take.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colorectal cancer in 2016, which eventually
progressed to stage IV before 2020.64 He had not spoken publicly about his
cancer diagnosis, and his status was not revealed until the day of his death on
August 28, 2020. During treatment (multiple surgeries and chemotherapy) he
continued to work and completed filming several movies, including Marshall
(2016), Da 5 Bloods (2020), Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020), among others.

The actor passed away on August 28, 2020 at the age of 43, following
complications with the colon cancer he was suffering from.1166 In his last
moments he was accompanied by his wife and family.

His funeral took place on September 3, 2020 in his native Anderson, in a private
ceremony attended only by friends and family. Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home
was in charge of arranging all funeral services.

On September 5, 2021, Howard University renamed its college of fine arts in honor
of the actor the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
