Hedonism
• The beauty is to pleasure and
ugly is to pain.

HEDONISM, defined.
◈ The word ‘hedonism’ comes from the
ancient Greek for ‘pleasure’. Psychological
or motivational hedonism claims that only
pleasure or pain motivates us. Ethical or
evaluative hedonism claims that only
pleasure has worth or value and only pain
or displeasure has disvalue or the opposite
of worth.

Functionalism – the person’s feeling of need
of an object which satisfies his/her needs. It
answers the question “What is it for?”.

FEMININE BEAUTY
“Knowledge is power, beauty is a
weapon and kindness is preservation.”
It may be sad to say, but for women, to
be beautiful is to be powerful. Whether
you like it or not, it is true that part of
women’s power has to do with their
appearance. Don’t get me wrong —
intelligence is beautiful, too, but our
society also values physical beauty.….One
thing that is for sure though is that
beauty can be wielded as a weapon of
advantage.
