Title of the Program: School of Education (SEd) – Extension Project
Objectives of the Extension Program of the School of Education
In response to the vision of the College and that of the Research and Extension Department, the
School of Education primarily based its extension program on basic literacy, health concerns, and
self-sustainability for the beneficiaries to be a productive citizen of the community.
Students and faculty from both the biological and physical sciences are set to help selected
communities by giving tutorial lessons on science including the need to adopt measures in minimizing
environmental problems.
Mathematics students and faculty are concerned with teaching basic mathematics and the use of
calculators in elementary, high school, out-of –school youths (drop-outs) in selected barangays.
Social Studies is focused on delivering knowledge about local geography, civics and culture and
Philippine history. All of these will prepare them to become good citizens of their community as well as their
country.
Technology and Livelihood Education extensionists aim to help the populace in selected areas
develop/process the indigenous resources of the province to a useful product that would benefit the latter
financially. Furthermore, they are there to alleviate the condition of the malnourished young generation in the
place.
MAPHE extension services geared towards introducing to Marindukanons native folk songs, dances
and sports which can be used for recreational, social and health purposes.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-2017 SEd EXTENSION PROJECT (Tutorial Classes) IMPLEMENTATION

A tutorial is a method of transferring knowledge and may be used as a part of a learning process.
More interactive and specific than a book or a lecture, a tutorial seeks to teach by example and supply the
information to complete a certain task. Depending on the context a tutorial can take one of many forms,
ranging from a set of instructions to complete a task to an interactive problem solving session (usually in
academic), according to Wikipedia.
The tutorial classes of Marinduque State College- School of Education (MSC-SEd) were continued
this first semester A.Y. 2016-2017 and scheduled every Wednesday. The tutors were the 2 nd, 3rd, and 4th year
students of SEd from different field of specialization such as MAPHE, Mathematics, Music Education,
Sciences (Biological and Physical), Social Studies, and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE).

From thirteen (13) schools last academic year, it became sixteen (16) schools. These schools are:

Balanacan Elementary School Don Luis Hidalgo Memorial School

Balaring-Caganhao Elementary School Don Severino Lardizabal Memorial School
Bangbang National High School Lupac-Tabigue Elementary School
Bangbangalon Elementary School Magapua Elementary School
Bognuyan National High School Nangka Elementary School
Buenavista National High School Pili-Balogo Elementary School
Buliasnin Elementary School Poras Elementary School
Cawit Elementary School Tanza Elementary School

A grand total of 777 tutees were benefited from the said extension project.

SED CONDUCTS INVESTITURE CEREMONIES
Conducted last 16th day of November 2016, at MSC Covered Court, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque, the 8 th
Student-Teachers’ Investiture Ceremony with the theme: “Student Teachers Responding to the Challenge of
the 21st Century Teaching” was attended by the 4th year Bachelor of Secondary Education students, parents,
faculty of instruction, student-teacher coordinators, and other notable stakeholders. The activity recognizes
the hardships of parents in supporting their child and at the same time, paved way for the student-teachers to
show their gratitude and appreciation to their parents and teachers. Highlights of the ceremony includes the
inspiring talk from the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Liza Marie M. Manoos, and the bar pinning of students
spearheaded by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Leodegario M. Jalos Jr., facilitated by the School
of Education’s Dean, Dr. Rex Emmanuel L. Asuncion, and respective field of specialization coordinators.

Rev. Fr. Eulogio Mangui led the thanksgiving mass. Mr. Noel R. Palomares, the Experiential Learning
Course (ELC) Supervisor presented the student-teachers - thirty six Technology and Livelihood Education
(TLE) majors, fifteen Mathematics major, sixteen Social Studies majors, thirty six Music, Arts, Physical, and
Health Education (MAPHE) majors, four Music Education majors, sixteen Biological Sciences majors, and
eight Physical Education majors. After presenting the one hundred thirty one student teachers, Dr. Leodegar-
io M. Jalos Jr., the Vice- President for Academic Affairs, took over the confirmation of these student-teachers.

Dr. Alicia M. Maalindog, a faculty of School of Education, introduced the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Liza
Marie M. Manoos, the Vice President of Administration and Finance. In her speech, she enumerated and
talked about some of the challenges of the 21st century teaching like Cultural Diversity, Technology, Hunger,
Poverty, Language, War, Economy, and Government. Each of these was given deep and thorough manifesta-
tions that can be observed on the daily living of the student-teachers. She raised and emphasized questions
which were in relevant to each challenge that can only be answered through actions during the actual teach-
ing of the student-teachers. Moreover, she gave motivating and inspiring thoughts to the student teachers
which she believes can help them in conquering the world of proper guidance and better instruction.

On the other hand, the Bachelor in Elementary Education seniors hold the 8 th Investiture Ceremony
with the theme “MSC Student Teachers Gearing Towards 21 st Century Learning” last November 14, 2016 at
Municipal Gymnasium, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque. The event was attended by faculty members of the School
headed by the Dr. Annalyn J. Decena, Program Chair of BEEd, parents, and the 132 student teachers.

The program started with a thanksgiving mass at Holy Cross Parish Church. Mr. Noel Palomares, ELC
Supervisor gave his opening remarks and mentioned the vital characteristics that a teacher must possess.
Keynote speaker, Ms. Rona Mae M. Paradero imparted and shared wisdom about “gadgets” that teachers
must have. Camouflage which will serve as a protection, flashlight to light the journey to success, compass to
known the right direction, and whistle to obtain alertness.

The Students Teachers’ Investiture Ceremony is a time-honored tradition marking the occasion when
one is welcomed into the teaching profession. It denotes a milestone in an educator’s life that no one shall
miss. It is not only about pinning their names, but it also represents their deep affiliation with the honorable
profession of teaching.

CRAZY FEELING JUST FRIENDS
Angelica Medina Mary Grace Macunat

One day, this feeling began. Someone who understands your feelings
My feelings for you are not an ordinary one. Always giving the right things
I want to create memories with you, can I? You, and just you are the one whom I am thinking
Can’t hide this crazy thing, caressing from the inside. And silently, just you who I am wishing

Days passed by but this feeling did not fade out. Feelings were not seriously taken
My heart is beating fast whenever you’re by my side. Which made my heart feel so broken
Time is getting swift when you’re always with me, my The love I want was never given
love.
Which made me feel that I’m no longer in heaven
I wish I have the strength to tell you that you will be
mine.
“We’re just friends”, that’s what he always say
But he’s the only one I think of day by day
A day without you makes my heart feel sorry.
Every time we’re together, I feel gay
It’s like I didn’t deserve to be in loved and be happy.
No coin, no gold can match and pay!
But the song whispering in my ears are saying
There’s nothing wrong with being in loved
Thinking of the right time to be fine,
I’m wondering if I need to stop this feeling. A marriage contract that needs to be signed
But you are the only one that can make my heart sing Time, effort, and love now combined
That’s why I always keep on saying, Now I can call you “mine”.
“That loving you is the best thing”.

FOREVER FORBIDDEN LOVE

Mary Grace Macunat Ronamel Malco

Accepting one’s past is the best way Freedom from aches, guide for mistakes

To start a relationship that lasts Only love could heal my heart that breaks
Giving full attention and trust, Release all the painful memories of the past
To make love peaceful but with a blast. Bury them with smiles and love that won’t last

Love can be great, that’s what they say It’s a matter of truth, a deep affection

But it has no assurance that you will stay Do I have to neglect with mere obsession?

Love that was written along the way Distance isn't a problem, yet age obstruct
Will surely last until my last day Either I insist or face the fact

Someone who loves should never say never Never giving up for my hopeless dreams

To achieve that happily ever after Loving him in spite of everything

Everything should always be made together Oath of love, forbid they’re saying
To prove to all that love will last forever Voices are actions, smiles are hoping

Enough is enough, but I’m still waiting...

Estudyanteng Ina Parang
Bernadette N. Del Prado Fatima M. Villanueva

Parang ‘di ako kilala, bakit parang may mali

Sinong kakalinga at gagabay minsan Lakas loob kong itinanong, “Tayo ba?”

Wala kang inaamin, wala kang sinasabi

Parang tayo, pero parang hindi

Lumipas ang mga araw, napadalas ang kwentuhan

Pati kaibigan ko niyaya mo na sa fishball-an
