A. Introduction

1. Drill & Prayer


Before we start, may I call on our prayer leader - Pupils stands up and pray
today?

Good Morning class. - Good morning teacher.

Before you take your seats, let us first sing - (Pupil’s Sing)

2. Review
This morning before we start our new topic, who can - (Pupil’s raising hands)
first recall our topic yesterday?

Yes, correct it was about the types of Sentences. - (Pupils answering)


What are those types of sentences again?
Very good!!! Those were Declarative,
Interrogative, Imperative and Exclamative Sentence

3. Motivation (SWARLT)

I have here a story, I want you to be quiet and listen.


Okay Pupils? - Yes teacher

The Wise Son

In Africa, in the country of Ghana, there once lived - (Pupils will listen carefully)
a man who had three sons. One day, before he left on
a long journey, Mario gathered his sons around him.
He gave each child an egg. “I will be gone for a long
time.”

He told his sons. “Use these eggs to help your


mother.” But as soon Mario left, the two older boys
cooked and ate their eggs. The youngest boy, Elmo,
gave his egg to his mother, who put it under a hen to
hatch.

Many months later, Mario returned. The youngest


son prepared a feast to welcome him back-for he had
many chickens and many eggs.

Questions:
a. In the story what was the name of the places? - Ghana and Africa
b. What is the name of the Persons in the story? - Mario and Elmo.

Look at the table we made a while ago. animal, and events.
Any idea what is the meaning of Noun?

B. Activity

I have here a table with 5 columns (persons, places,


things, animals and ideas or events). Beside the table
are list of words. Now, I want you to group the class
into 5 groups, 1st will be assigned in persons column,
2nd group will take the places column and so on.

Then if you believe that this word is a name of person,


then place this to its column (person) and so the same
with others.

Did you get it class? - Yes, teacher!

D. Abstraction

Going back to the topic. There are many kinds of


nouns, but today let’s focus on the first two kind of
nouns – Proper Nouns and Common Nouns

Again, what is our lesson for today? - Proper Nouns and Common Nouns

Very Good!
Now, let us define what is Common Noun? - Common Nouns are used to name persons,
Everybody read… places, things, animals, and events in
GENERAL. It refers to class or types of noun
without being specific.
Examples: food, student, flower, country

How about Proper Noun? Kindly read. - Proper Nouns are used to name SPECIFIC
person, place, things, animals, and events. It
always begins with a capital letter.
Example: Andrino, Jenelyn, Lara, Baka, Japan

E. Application

I have here again a table but this time it has only


two columns (Proper Noun and Common Noun).
Going back to our chart before. Classify all the words
if it is Proper or Common Noun.
Put it in the proper column
