Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Scholarship and
a Bursary?
There is very little difference – both are defined
as a grant or financial aid awarded to a student.
Scholarships tend to denote achievement, whereas
Bursaries are more need-based.
At Aberystwyth, our long-established Entrance
Scholarships exist alongside our newer range of
awards. The awards we offer range from those
dependent on academic achievement, to rewards
for sporting and musical ability, assistance for
students from lower income households, and those
coming from a background of being in care.
Are all of your awards income-contingent?
No – only the Aberystwyth Bursary; all the other
awards are open to all applicants, regardless of
household income.
What benefits, other than financial, can I expect?
Apart from the obvious kudos and enhancement to
your CV:
Entrance Scholarships – an Unconditional offer,
guaranteed accommodation for the duration of
the course.
Merit Awards – an Unconditional offer.
Sports Scholarships – free Platinum
membership of the University’s Sports
Centre for each year of study, guaranteed
accommodation for the duration of the course,
support from the Sports Scholarship Mentor.
Music Scholarships – free membership of all
Music Centre and affiliated ensembles, free
use of Music Centre practice, library and other
facilities, guaranteed University accommodation
for the duration of the course.
Care Leaver, Young Carers and related
Bursaries – support from a Mentor within the
Centre for Widening Participation, Equality and
Social Inclusion and Student Support Services,
from pre-entry through to registration and
graduation.
Can I hold more than one award at the same time?
Yes! You can hold either an Entrance Scholarship
or a Merit Award together with ANY or ALL of our
other awards.
Do I have to have applied for a course in a certain
subject area in order to be considered for an
award?
No, you can hold most of our awards for any of our
courses.
Do I have to apply for all the awards separately?
There are separate application forms for some
awards. For Aberystwyth Bursaries, we will access
the financial information you provide to your local
authority and use that to assess your eligibility, so
again you don’t need to apply separately for them.
Students from the EU (outside of the UK) will be
sent a form to complete and return.
What other support do you offer students?
As well as the Scholarship and Bursary package,
students at Aberystwyth have the opportunity
to gain work experience through our AberWorks
scheme. This provides students with paid casual/
temporary work opportunities within University
departments of up to 15 hours per week during
term-time. The Careers Service also supports
students in securing work experience, combining
paid work with the opportunity to learn new skills,
further build employability and be more financially
independent.

Entrance Scholarships
and Merit Awards
We have offered Scholarships at Aberystwyth ever since the University
was established. Today, the Entrance Scholarship competition offers four
opportunities to benefit simply by sitting two exams:
1. Institute Scholarships – up to £2,000 a year
We have 20 Institute Scholarships available,
which are worth up to £2,000 a year, as well as
an unconditional offer to study at the University
and guaranteed accommodation in a University
property for the duration of the course*. Our
academic Institutes allocate these awards based on
excellent performance in the Entrance Scholarship
exams. Successful candidates are guaranteed to
receive £1,000 for each year of their course - but
if they achieve grades of at least ABB at A level (or
equivalent in other specified qualifications**), we
will DOUBLE the award to £2,000 a year.
2. University Scholarships – up to £1,000 a year
We have 50 University Scholarships to award
to the candidates scoring the highest aggregate
marks of both examination papers. Successful
candidates are guaranteed to receive £500 for
each year of their course, but we will DOUBLE the
award to £1,000 a year for those achieving at least
ABB at A level (or equivalent in other specified
qualifications**). University Scholarship holders
also receive an unconditional offer to study at the
University, and guaranteed accommodation in a
University property throughout the length of their
course*.
3. Merit Awards – up to £1,000 in the first year
We offer approximately 250 Merit Awards each
year to students who do well in the Entrance
Scholarship competition but narrowly miss out
on attaining a Scholarship. Merit Award holders
are guaranteed to receive £500 during the first
year of their course, but if they achieve at least
ABB at A level (or equivalent in other specified

qualifications**), we will DOUBLE the award
to £1,000. Merit Award holders also get an
unconditional offer to study at the University.
4. Unconditional offers – plus up to £300 in the
first year
Some candidates who do not receive a Scholarship
or Merit Award will be offered an unconditional
offer on the basis of their strong performance in
the Entrance Scholarship competition. If these
candidates achieve at least ABB at A level (or
equivalent in other specified qualifications**), we
will reward them with a payment of £300 during
their first year.
Please note that it is only possible to receive
one award as a result of sitting the Entrance
Scholarship examinations.

What is Involved?
Entrance Scholarships and Merit Awards are
open to students studying any degree scheme at
Aberystwyth. You will be required to sit two exams
from the choice of 38 subjects we offer. Each exam
lasts for an hour and a half. The exams are set and
marked by our academic departments, so they
don’t follow any particular syllabus, but they should
be a similar standard to A level exams.

Entrance Scholarship Regulations
1. Scholarships and Merit Awards are open to
candidates who will have attained the age of 17 by
1 October in the year of proposed entry to university.
2. Candidates must submit an application form to the
Recruitment and Marketing Office before
18 January noting the two subjects in which they
wish to be examined and the course of study they
wish to pursue. Candidates may not sit papers in
a combination of subjects unacceptable to their
proposed department of study.
3. A candidate who is awarded a scholarship must,
as a condition of his/her acceptance of the Award,
accept the University as his/her ‘firm’ choice
through UCAS. The University reserves the right
to withdraw the Scholarship should the candidate
place the University as his/her ‘insurance’ choice.
The exception to this will be for candidates holding
offers from the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge,
or who have applied for a Veterinary Science course,
where Aberystwyth can be held as the Insurance
choice.
4. No candidate shall be admitted to the examination if
he/she has been a degree student at any university
or university college for more than one semester.
5. The examinations are designed for candidates in
Year 13 or equivalent. A higher standard will be
required from any candidate who has completed two
years in the sixth form or equivalent. Applications
from mature candidates are also encouraged.
6. The Senate reserves the right of withholding any
award if it is found that there is no candidate of
sufficient merit.
7. The Senate reserves the right of dividing any
scholarship in case of equality.

in the event of a candidate obtaining an award from
another body.
9. Entrance Scholarship and Institute Entrance
Scholarship payments will continue for each eligible
year of the course provided that an attendance rate
of at least 70% in the first year (lectures, seminars,
workshops, practicals etc) has been achieved.
10. The Senate will reduce or totally withhold an award
if the holder has not made distinct progress in his/
her studies as certified by his/her teachers and as
shown in the Terminal and Sessional examinations
of the University, or if his/her conduct and diligence
have not been satisfactory.
11. Payments are not made during years abroad, years in
employment, sandwich years, repeat years etc.
12. Scholarship holders shall be active in raising
awareness of the University by engaging with
promotional schemes where appropriate (e.g. visits
to schools/colleges, Open Days, Visiting Days,
Widening Participation activities). For engagement
in these activities, the scholarship holder will need
to register with AberWorks and will be recompensed
at the standard student ambassador rate (further
information on these opportunities will be advertised
during the academic year).
13. The Scholarships will be subject to the general
regulations governing the award and tenure of
University Entrance Scholarships. The tenure of
all awards is subject to the Standing Orders of the
Senate.

Entrance Scholarship
Examination and Syllabus
Entrance Scholarship examinations must be taken in two of the following subjects.
Unless otherwise indicated, the scope of the examination is similar to that of
the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) but does not follow any
particular syllabus. It’s important to ensure that the subjects you choose are
relevant to the degree scheme you have applied for.
1. Accounting and Finance
This hour and a half paper will be based upon
Accounting A level syllabuses. The paper will
consist of four questions, of which students will be
required to answer two.

2. Agriculture and the Countryside
This examination will test the candidate’s
knowledge of the range, distribution and scale
of farming systems in the UK or the influence of
various land-uses and conservation policy on the
countryside.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate an
understanding of various forms of agricultural land
use and an understanding of one of the following
issues; the effects of agricultural production,
forestry or recreation on the rural environment.
In particular, candidates are expected to
demonstrate knowledge of the influence of man on
the environment, the nature of the landscape and
how it was formed, the habitats that exist in the UK
environment and the conservation of important
terrestrial ecosystems.
3. Animal and Equine Science
This examination will test the candidate’s
knowledge and understanding of the major body
systems in mammalian biology: in particular their
application to domesticated animals including the
horse, farm animals and companion animals.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate an
understanding of the major biochemical systems
of the mammalian body, an understanding of
Mendelian genetics, and an appreciation of the
biological issues that affect the health and welfare
of domesticated animals.
4. Art History
This paper allows candidates to write about general
art and art history topics. Questions will offer
candidates the opportunity to consider artworks
or exhibitions they may have seen, covering a
wide range of art history or issues such as the
relationship of art to craft, art to society, museums
and the environment. The paper is designed for
those who have previously studied Art History,
students who may not have studied A level Art
History, and for candidates who have studied an A
level syllabus in Art that did not include Art History.
Candidates must answer two essay questions in an
hour and a half.
5. Art (Portfolio)
If a candidate is applying for a degree scheme that
includes Fine Art - for example, Joint Honours
in Art History and Fine Art - they must submit a
Portfolio of their art work as one of their Entrance
Scholarship subjects.
Students must submit a portfolio of original two-
dimensional artworks. We are looking for work that
shows a variety of media, techniques and subject
matter, a strong aptitude for observational drawing
and/or painting, and a wider interest in fine art
through the study of art and artists, historical and
contemporary. We also like to see sketchbooks
as these are good indicators of experimental
processes and development of ideas.

‘Biology 1’ will be concerned with biochemical,
cellular and physiological perspectives. Its remit
will encompass all groups of organisms, but should
provide sufficient scope for students who have
specialised in Human Biology. ‘Biology 2’ will be
concerned more with whole organisms in terms of
their ecology, biodiversity, evolution and behaviour.
This paper will be cognizant of potential interests
in our degree themes of Marine and Freshwater
Biology, or Animal Behaviour.

8. Business and Management
The examination will involve questions about the
management of business organisations, including
issues of marketing, human resource management
and business ethics. Questions on the role of
changes in the social, legal, economic, political and
technological environment and their impact on
business will also be asked.
The questions will ask candidates to show an
awareness of contemporary issues, and will seek
evidence that candidates are strongly motivated
towards taking a degree in management and
business. The paper is divided into three broadly
defined sections covering accounting, economics
and management, and marketing issues
respectively. Three questions must be answered,
one from each section.

9. Chemistry
Students will be expected to answer two questions
from a choice of four during the hour and a half
exam. The questions may test knowledge across
the breadth of physical, inorganic, organic and
practical chemistry. Questions may also include
data interpretation or quantitative chemistry. Skills
in clarity of expression and awareness of the wider
importance of chemistry will be credited.
A Periodic Table will be included with the

10. Computer Science
The objective of the Entrance Scholarship
examination in Computer Science is to examine
the general knowledge that you may have before
you enter University. The exam may cover the
following subjects in Computer Science: general
programming and algorithm design, computer
graphics, database, operating systems, and
computer architecture. In general, three or four
questions amongst these subjects will be set and
there will be considerable choice available. The
examination paper will be marked based on your
understanding of the subjects and the standard of
expression used to answer the questions.
This exam is targeted at students studying A level
Computer Science. Students are allowed to take
the Information Technology paper as well as the
Computer Science paper or can take either of
these with another subject.
11. Creative Writing (in English)
Candidates will write a short story based upon
one of a selection of prescribed subjects. They
will also write a short piece (200 to 400 words) of
commentary on the story.
Section A: The story – This should be a complete
(if necessarily brief) short story, revealing a clear
sense of overall structure. Marks will be awarded
for imaginativeness of approach to the prescribed
subject and for style: style means, at the basic level,
a good command of grammar and punctuation
and, at a more sophisticated level, the ability to use
language in artistically effective ways. The focus on
the prescribed subject may be of greater or lesser
intensity, but the subject should figure significantly
in the story.
Section B: The commentary – This will reflect on
the process of writing the story, explaining the

Candidates will be given the opportunity to

the challenges and difficulties of staging such a

company of choice, evaluating a performance seen
recently in the theatre, or engaging with concepts

of theatre, make original comments and produce a
well-conceived and fluid discussion of key issues.

The exam consists of eight questions, of which

This examination will involve a choice of questions
which enable you to discuss a number of current
or theoretical topics and viewpoints regarding

for the candidate to show coherent, well-thought
arguments, persuasive essay writing skills and
ability to analyse current issues. The questions will
be sufficiently general to ensure that there will be
equal opportunity for all candidates regardless of
academic background.
18. English Literature
Candidates will be required to write one essay on
a topic chosen from a list of general questions. The
essay must show a critical engagement with two
texts of your choice. These can be texts that you
have previously studied or texts that you have read
outside the curriculum.
The essay should aim to present an informed and
well-structured critical argument with a clear focus
on the question. We are not interested in testing
your ability to remember block quotations from
your chosen texts (though relevant use of key
phrases can give an edge to an argument).
We are looking for evidence of careful reading,
good writing skills and critical flair.
Candidates will not be allowed to bring any texts
into this examination.
19. Film and Television Studies
Candidates will be given the opportunity to write
two essays on topics chosen from a varied list
of questions. Candidates should make use of

the popularity of television soap opera, the key
features of different film genres, or a critical

The financial support and chance of a reduced
offer persuaded me to apply. When I found
out I’d received an award my family were
so proud of how well I’d done. It reduced
the stress leading up to going to university
because knowing I had a guaranteed place
made me more comfortable and confident
when sitting my A-level exams.

The choice of scholarship paper will depend on
previous experience of history at A level, which is
generally divided into the above categories, and on
the candidate’s intended degree programme, as the
department offers degrees in history and European
history. Candidates applying for general history
degrees are welcome to take both papers.
The ‘History – British Isles’ paper covers British,
Welsh and Irish history.
The ‘History – Europe and America’ paper covers
the history of Europe (excluding Britain) and the
United States. Some questions will allow candidates
to use evidence from any European country,
but there will be specific questions on France,
Germany, Italy and Russia.
Each paper will include around 30 questions,
divided into two sections. Candidates will answer
one question from Section A and one question
from Section B.
Section A will be devoted to questions of a
general historical nature. This section provides an
opportunity for students to demonstrate that they
are capable of dealing with the broader challenges
of historical study in an informed and systematic
way. Students are advised that answers should
demonstrate serious and wide-ranging thought,
and include relevant examples from the candidate’s
historical knowledge.
Section B will contain a wide range of questions
from the early medieval period to the present day,
arranged chronologically.

It was really easy to organise sitting the exams
at my school and I felt the questions were
sufficiently broad to enable me to do well.
Even the chance of receiving an unconditional
offer is worth the minor stress of the exams.
I was so nervous holding the envelope with the
results that I almost didn’t open it but I was
ecstatic when I read it. Within half an hour all
my family across the country knew the news!
Having the unconditional offer really took
the pressure off my exams and allowed me to
concentrate on doing my best without having
to worry so much about grades....plus the extra
money is always useful.
2. Test candidates’ ability to write essays, identify
arguments and demonstrate analytical skills.
The paper has two sections. In Section A (40%
of the overall mark) candidates will be asked to
answer a series of questions related to a research
study. In Section B candidates will have the choice

of biomechanics, physiology, and psychology,
along with their ability to apply this material to
the analysis of practical examples from sport and
exercise. Candidates are encouraged to draw upon
personal experiences or contemporary issues and
to evidence a critical and analytical approach.
38. Tourism
The paper consists of two sections, the first (Section
A) covering UK tourism and the second (Section B)
concerned with global tourism. As many candidates
may well have not studied tourism previously, the
questions are designed to encourage students to
comment on general topics relating to tourism
development and management, including impacts
of tourism, the economic importance of tourism
and the structure of the tourism industry.
Candidates are encouraged to familiarise
themselves with UK and global tourism principles
by studying appropriate texts, for example “Tourism
Principles and Practice” (Fletcher et al, 2013).

The idea of being rewarded for doing
something I love and am passionate about
attracted me to apply for a Sports Scholarship.
When I found out I had received the award
I was thrilled and even more excited to start
my studies at Aberystwyth. It means I have
been able to throw myself into aspects of my
course and the netball club without having
to worry about the financial aspect. Receiving
the Scholarship has also helped my sporting
performance as I was able to do more than my
best during trials, knowing that the University
had confidence in me.
Conditions to be fulfilled by
Sports Scholarship holders
1. Scholarship holders will be required to meet all
the terms of their offer in full.
2. Scholarship holders will be expected to
contribute to a Students’ Union Sports Club and
would normally be expected to represent the
University in the sport for which the Scholarship
was awarded. In some circumstances this
requirement may not be appropriate or possible
and can be waived by agreement of the Chair
of the Awarding Panel. Scholarship holders
are asked to confirm their availability upon
acceptance of the award.
3. Holders of the Scholarship should agree to
behave in a fashion befitting a representative
of the University and attempt to maintain or
improve their sporting performance.
4. Scholarship holders shall provide help in
promoting the sporting profile of the University
and will assist in other schemes which involve
the promotion of the University e.g. Open
Days, Visiting Days, Widening Participation
activities, where appropriate. The student will be
recompensed for hours worked at the standard
student ambassador rate.
5. The Scholarship holder will have the opportunity
to review their progress with the Student
Activities Co-ordinator and may also be required
to keep a training diary to help with the review
process. The administration of the assessment
and progression process will be undertaken
by the Secretary of the Awarding Panel, and
the review process will be administered by the
Sports Scholarship Mentor.
6. Scholarship holders will be expected to submit
short written progress reports (on an appropriate
template which will be provided) at the end of
their first semester, and at the end of each year
of study. Scholarship holders must also inform
the Sports Scholarship Mentor should any
change in circumstances result in them being
unable to continue to participate in their chosen
sport during their time at the University.
7. Payments will not be made during years abroad,
years in employment, sandwich years, repeat
years etc.
8. Holders of the Scholarship will continue to
receive the benefits as long as they are full-time
students.
9. Unsatisfactory progress in any of these areas,
without good cause, will result in termination of
the award.

Music Scholarships
 up to £650 a year
A great musical life is one of the strengths of
Aberystwyth and the University. Music degrees
are no longer offered by the University but we still
appreciate the importance of a vibrant musical
community. The Music Centre offers all students
the opportunity to play, learn, and enjoy music
alongside their studies.
Music Scholarships are intended for experienced
musicians who can actively contribute to the
University’s orchestras, bands, choirs and other
ensembles. They are awarded on the basis of
competitive audition to new entrants in any
discipline (undergraduate or postgraduate) and
held for the duration of the course.
The benefits of Music Scholarships:
• Up to £650 a year (four or more awards
available annually)
• Free membership of all Music Centre ensembles
and affiliated ensembles (including orchestras,
bands, etc.)

From a young age, music has always been
important to me. Over the years, music
became such a large part of my extra-
curricular life that when it came to looking
at universities, I was determined to find one
that had both a good music centre and
English Literature course.
I knew when I first looked at Aberystwyth
that it was the place for me. The Philomusica
symphony orchestra has given me a world
of musical opportunities, performing music
which I had never imagined I would be
capable of playing. The highlight though
has to be when we did Holst’s The Planets.
Playing in the orchestra for such an amazing
work which I had grown up listening to was
an experience I am not likely to forget any
time soon.
I have also been involved in the University
Singers, in which we have done some
amazing choral works, such as Mozart’s
Requiem and Puccini’s Messa di Gloria.
I don’t think there is anything that can
compare to singing in a large choir, and I
would encourage anyone who enjoys singing
to get involved.

When deciding which university to attend,
the musical opportunities on offer were
an important factor in my final decision.
Aberystwyth University has a rich history of
musical excellence therefore the decision
was easier than I thought.
Personal highlights of mine include playing
Principal Trombone for Philomusica in
Rachmaninoff’s 1st symphony, and bass
trombone in Holst’s famous Planets Suite.
We have also done some great repertoire
with the University Concert Band, and I even
had the chance to perform a solo concerto
work entitled Dance Sequence by Gareth
Wood.
The musical opportunities on offer here at
Aberystwyth are second to none, and with
the excellent support from the staff, I have
been able to broaden my musical horizons
into both starting a trombone quartet and
delving into musical theatre - incorporating
such aspects as conducting and teaching.
The social aspect of music has always
been important, and due to an even mix of
students, locals and University staff involved
in the various ensembles, it has led me to
make some really great like-minded friends
who will remain as such for a long while yet.

Bursaries for Care Leavers,
Young Carers and related groups
Aberystwyth University is aware of the financial
difficulties faced by students entering higher
education who have previously been in Care
or who have caring responsibilities, or who are
estranged from families and guardians in their
late teenage years. In order to ease this financial
pressure, we are pleased to introduce the following:
Students who declare in their UCAS application
that they are in care, are a recognised young
carer, or are recently estranged from their family/
guardian due to other widening access criteria
may be eligible to receive this additional payment
(regardless of any other bursary or scholarship held
with us).
For a Full Bursary*
 - £1,500 per annum*
An applicant must be able to demonstrate that:
- they have been in foster or other public care
for a continuous period of 6 months or more
after the age of 14, and be under 25 years of
age when commencing their HE studies, with a
Pathway Plan where appropriate,
- OR that they are a recognised young carer
for a parent or sibling or nearest relative, in
financial hardship and under the age of 21 when
commencing their HE studies,
- OR that they have become estranged from
their family/guardian(s) after the age of 16, are
independent and self-supporting, in financial
hardship, and under the age of 21 when
commencing their HE studies.
*This amount is based on the anticipated
accommodation costs for vacation periods, additional
costs of items for independent living such as duvet,
sheets, crockery, cutlery etc (which can be made
available on arrival), plus course books and other
study materials. It is assumed that students would find
vacation employment to meet additional living costs.

For a Part Bursary**
 - £800 per annum**
An applicant must be able to demonstrate that:
- they have been in foster or other public care
for a continuous period of 3 to 6 months at or
after the age of 16, affecting their secondary
schooling, and be under 25 years of age when
commencing their HE studies.
** This amount is based on an understanding that
young people who have been in Care intermittently
or for a period of 3-6 months are likely to have
experienced serious disruption to their education, in
addition to other aspects of their lives. This award
would provide them with the means to reside at the
University for part of the vacation period and could
enable them to become independent if they so
choose.
For both awards:
1. Bursaries will be awarded to all qualifying
full-time UK domiciled undergraduates who
meet the terms of their offer, irrespective of
year of entry, and is in addition to other forms
of statutory and institutional support.
2. The award is tenable for the normal duration
of their scheme of study and subject to
satisfactory academic progress.
3. Application is by completion of a short form
supported by documentation from social
services, third sector provider or other relevant
individual or body (completed in September
of the year of entry or, where appropriate, on
discussion, during the first year of study), and
a short meeting with the ‘Named Person’ at
Aberystwyth University (see contact details
below).
In addition to financial support, Care Leavers
and others are also offered to a number of other
support measures including:

Welsh Medium Study Scholarships
98% of Aberystwyth University graduates who have
studied Welsh medium modules are in work or
further study six months after graduating.*
To enable more of our students to take advantage
of the opportunity to learn new skills which are
important to the workplace, Aberystwyth offers
Scholarships to help them to follow part of their
course through the medium of Welsh.
There is no need to apply for these Scholarships
– they will automatically be awarded to eligible
students. Award holders are required to maintain
an attendance rate of at least 70% (lectures,
seminars, tutorials, workshops, practicals etc) in
order to remain eligible to receive the Scholarship.

registration at the start of each academic year.

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol
Scholarships
The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is an
independent body, with responsibilities for
planning and funding Welsh medium provision
within the entire higher education sector in
partnership with all the universities of Wales.
The aim of the Scholarship scheme is to offer
financial support to students studying through the
medium of Welsh. There are three levels of award,
depending on the number of credits available to
study through the medium of Welsh. It is possible
to hold a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Scholarship
alongside any Aberystwyth University awards.
William Salesbury Scholarship
- £5,000 over 3 years
This Scholarship is open to a student who
intends to study 100% of their course through
the medium of Welsh. Please see the Coleg
website for details of how to apply.
Main Scholarships
- £1,000 a year
The Main Scholarship scheme is for students
studying for degrees which include at least
240 credits through the medium of Welsh. In
order to be eligible for the Main Scholarship,
students must study at least 80 credits through
the medium of Welsh each year. These
Scholarships are worth £3,000 over three
years (where a course includes three years of
studying in Aberystwyth and a year abroad/
work experience year, that year will not be

Myself and my family were so pleased to learn
that I had won a Merit Award, and also the
Scholarship from the Coleg Cymraeg.
The money will be a great help to me with living
costs and buying educational materials like
books. It was so easy to apply and the awards
are well worth having because I’m in a better
financial position than I would have been at
another university.
The Scholarships are awarded on the basis
of the results of Aberystwyth’s Entrance
Scholarship examinations.
How to apply
The Main Scholarships will be allocated
on the basis of the Entrance Scholarship
Examinations (see page 3). You must become
a member of the Coleg to apply.

AberWorks
Opportunities for part-time, casual work through
AberWorks range from catering and administrative
work, to ambassador roles and more. During term-
time, if work is available, you may choose to work
up to 15 hours per week, with more hours possible
during vacation periods. Work could be based on
any of the University’s campuses including the Old
College and our Farms.
