CHAPTER: 1
INTRODUCTION

 Internship in the High Court has taught me more than just law. It gave me an exposure to the real
side of the law and motivated me to keep on learning. Not only the legal way but Sir taught basic
principles of life which we do not follow, and some knowledge that is beyond the scope of law. I
observed people and also understood the way law enforcement takes place. And we dealt with
different laws and rules, statutes etc.

 Gujarat High Court - The Gujarat High Court is the High Court of the state of Gujarat. It was
established on 1 May 1960 under the Bombay Re-organization Act, 1960 after the state
of Gujarat split from Bombay State. The seat of the court is Ahmedabad. The present strength of
the Gujarat High court is 29 against sanctioned strength of 52.

 Establishment - This High Court was established on 1 May 1960 as a result of bifurcation of the
former State of Bombay into two States of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The High Court started
functioning near Akashwani, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad. The High Court had later shifted to the
new building at Sarkhej - Gandhinagar Highway, Sola, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from 16 January
1999.

 Jurisdiction - The Gujarat High Court has jurisdiction over the entire state of Gujarat. It has
jurisdiction on all district, administrative and other courts in Gujarat. This high court is a Court
of record and empowered to punish anyone for contempt of court.

 Powers - Unlike Union Judiciary, the state judiciary possesses wide powers which include
powers such as Appellate, Second Appellate in some cases, Revisionary, Review etc. It also has
power to issue various writs to courts and authority under its jurisdiction. Intra-Court appeals,
when permissible under Clause - 15 of Letters Patent, also lie within the same court from
decision of a Single Judge to a Division Bench which comprises two Judges. It has power of
superintendence on all courts under it under Article 227 of the Constitution of India. The High
Courts are also empowered to hear Public Interest Litigations.

CHAPTER: 4
ANALYSIS

 These are the courts of state government for every district or more districts aim in administering
justice in India. A simple question always strikes our mind that what are the reasons for
insufficient management of lower courts and what are the conditions of these courts. Basically,
the condition of the lower courts in India has developed time being in force but still, there are
reasons for poor and inefficient working of lower courts in India.

 The operation of Indian Judiciary has been transforming since long due to judicial activism and
dynamic nature of operating laws in India. Still the problems of the lower Courts have not been
eliminated fully. There is no guaranteeing that when justice will be delivered. There is no one to
look at the judicial administration.

 There are more than 20 million cases pending in the district courts of India. There is less number
of judges over huge population to deal with dispute crises in civil and criminal matters.
Adjournments and rescheduling problems which also leads to the long wait for justice. After the
enforcement of speedy trial as a part of Indian Constitution, the problem has somehow solved the
purpose.

 The ratio of judges over the population is so indiscriminate that we can’t blame judges for the
pendency of cases. There are so many pending cases due to such discrimination and it’s next to
impossible for the judges to solve so many disputes in a single instance. Also due to political
pressure, social influences and other reasons create a burden on judges to deliver justice
accordingly. Advocate here fail to fulfill their high aspirations. Poor people themselves become a
victim of accidents voluntarily so that they can get a good amount of money from the defendants.
People hurt themselves and create false evidence against another party. Such habitual practices
of people diminish the fairness of Indian justice system.

 Advocates have examined that some people become special clients of them as they are in habit of
filing cases against other in the interest of getting compensation. These people themselves create
a situation so that the other party becomes prey. It mostly happens in case of criminal suits.

 Clients sometimes come with such irrelevant issues and problematically want their matter to be
handled by the advocates. They are even not ready to solve the dispute by negotiation or even
mediation just in the urge of getting compensations in return. There was such a case that even I
came across where the client had a chance of negotiation but did not opt for that. But the judges
of the court were punctual and overall it was overwhelming to visit the court.

CHAPTER 5
LEARNING OF THE INTERNSHIP

 An internship is opportunities to test drive a career without making any serious commitments. It's
a chance to see what it would really be like to work in a particular organization, and whether
you're a great fit. And, perhaps most importantly, a good internship provides you with
experiences, lessons, and tools you'll need in the future. One of the most important things one
can take away from an internship is your new found knowledge, which includes knowing how to
fulfill tasks relevant to your desired career path. Not only that, but you should have also spent
time sharpening and honing the skills you already possessed.

 In addition to those people who you hope will act as references in the future, you should walk
away from an internship with a handful of new connections: senior employees, clients, fellow
interns, etc. These people can provide guidance and advice, help you in future job searches, and
may even become friends. But it's up to you to stay in touch with these connections, keep them
in the loop on where you are in your career, and offer to help them whenever you can.

 If you don’t enjoy the kind of work you are given, it’ll be a waste of both time and energy. If you
are interested in litigation, this is the kind of internship that you must go for.

 This internship has taught me more than just law. It gave me an exposure to the real side of the
law and motivated me to keep on learning. Not only the legal way but Sir taught basic principles
of life which we do not follow, and some knowledge that is beyond the scope of law. Internships
not only give you the practical knowledge, but it also helps you to open the doors of your mind
and think in a completely different way. You get to improve your logical, as well as legal
reasoning while interning. It is only possible to learn all this during an internship because no one
can teach you how to deal with clients or how to sympathize with them; you learn all this only
when you start working and dealing with all these issues on your own.

 As we all know that with theory comes the practical, same is the situation with law, it may be a
theory but its application is all that is needed. This internship has provided a required platform
for me as a student to be practical with my knowledge of law and to be able to learn worldly
practical legal norms. Internship is a place where you have a freedom of experimentation and
always think in a unique and a desired manner.

 During my internship I have also made desk research on different types of cases and also find the
citations relevant to the cases of company. I have created understanding on case matter by
reading cases so also laws/acts related to it.

11 | P a g e
 During this internship I learned to create notes and made summary after reading the whole facts
of the cases along with the documents as evidence , and I have find the judgments stated by
high courts of different states so also by the supreme court which are relevant to the case issue
and similar at some extent.

 I would like to say that this internship develops me, enrich my confidence level , improves my
personality and but obvious I have gained much knowledge how to work accordingly. It was
amazing experience. It was really nice to being with sir as an intern and took training under
experienced hands.

 I would like to suggest that every law colleges have to direct the law students to go in the court
and took the training under the experienced and efficient lawyer in the days of vacation in order
to gain their knowledge and level. So this would be develops them , enriches their confidence
level , and improves their personality and make them able to stand in court in case of future or
upcoming time as an advocate and shall remove the fear from their mind.

CHAPTER: 6
CONCLUSION

"Internships offer more than what law schools can offer a student."

 It provides a person with real life work experience in a prospective career field. It gives you a
close look at what you are really getting into, so it is very important to choose an internship
which interests you the most. The key to making the most out of an internship is to work to the
best of your abilities and you will be able to gain practical skills and understanding which is
most important than the law schools. This internship has come to an end with great experience
and learning with a happy note which will be cherished by us for lifetime.
