O9A: The Nine Angles

Primary Source Material And Establishment Propaganda

The essence of the post-2018 propaganda campaign directed by the Establishment and others at the
Order of Nine Angles (O9A) and at Mr David Myatt is the use of the fallacy of appeal to authority, which is
when someone, instead of researching the matter for themselves using primary source material relies on
or repeats what others have said or written about a matter, believing or claiming that those others are
'reliable sources' or authorities on the matter.

Such use of such a fallacy is either deliberate - propagandistic - or more often because of a failure by
individuals to use the faculty of logical reasoning. Which failure is usually due to one of more of the
following: strong personal and negative emotions about the subject or topic or person whatever the origin
or cause of such emotions; an instinctive reliance on or a peer-respect for what society regards as
'authorities' or 'experts'; a lack of education regarding logical reasoning and objective, unbiased,
research; a lackadaisical personal attitude in general.

Seasoned observers of human nature will know that Establishment propaganda campaigns rely on the
foregoing failures by the hoi polloi.

Objective, unbiased, research into a subject or topic or person requires the study of primary sources,
which sources include contemporaneous manuscripts, letters, diaries, memoirs, personal journals,
interviews, speeches, and other materials individuals used to describe (i) events in which they were
participants or observers, and (ii) ideas or creations - such as a philosophy, music, literature, or art-work -
which they were responsible for.

Thus primary sources in the matter of the O9A are - as mentioned in The Boundaries of O9A Philosophy
{1} - the writings authored and published by Anton Long between 1976 and 2012.

In the matter of Mr Myatt  the primary sources are his post-2012 writings, his philosophy of pathei-
mathos, his autobiography titled Myngath, and his translations of and commentaries on eight tractates of
the Corpus Hermeticism published in 2017.

The few seasoned observers of Establishment propaganda about the O9A and about Mr Myatt will have
noticed how these primary sources are ignored, not cited, and never quoted from; with Wikipedia an
outstanding example relying as it does on secondary - opinion-piece - sources and with all references to
primary sources, such as links to Myatt's website and blog, {2} removed: that is, censored.

For the reality of our era is that the craft of civilized scholarly research into a subject or topic or person is
in decline in academia as it is in the field of journalism, with both modern academics and journalists using
and often relying on the fallacy of appeal to authority; as does the 'mass media' in general and those
Internet sources of information such as Wikipedia.

Where by the craft of civilized scholarly research is meant: (i) meticulous research focused on a specific
matter or topic or person undertaken over a period of at least a year using primary source material; and
(ii) a reasoned, unbiased, assessment of the knowledge acquired by such research, with one's conclusions
about the matter or topic or person being logically derived.

The criteria of scholarship are: (i) a detailed, meticulous, unbiased original research on and concerning a
specific topic or topics or subject undertaken over a year or more in duration and involving primary
source material; (ii) an ability to be able to read primary sources in their original language; and (iii) a
rational assessment of the knowledge acquired by such research, with such conclusions about the topic,
topics, or subject being the logical result of the cumulative scholarly learning so acquired.
If the researcher cannot read primary sources in their original language and has to rely on the
translations of others then their conclusions are not original and not scholarly just as if they commit
logical fallacies - such as argumentum ad verecundiam - then their conclusions are also not scholarly.
