BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PUERTO RICO
Puerto Rico known as the heart and soul of the Caribbean. A place where the Old World is mashed up
with the new on an Island that is small in size but offers an immense bounty of one-of-a-kind experiences.
Puerto Rico, officially Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Spanish Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico,
self-governing island commonwealth of the West Indies, associated with the United States. The
easternmost island of the Greater Antilles chain, it lies approximately 50 miles (80 km) east of the
Dominican Republic, 40 miles (65 km) west of the Virgin Islands, and 1,000 miles (1,600 km) southeast
of the U.S. state of Florida. It is situated in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, its northern shore facing the
Atlantic Ocean. Two small islands off the east coast, Vieques and Culebra, are administratively parts of
Puerto Rico, as is Mona Island to the west. Compared with its Greater Antillean neighbours, Puerto Rico
is one-fifth as large as the Dominican Republic, one-third the size of Haiti, and slightly smaller than
Jamaica. It is roughly rectangular in shape, extending up to 111 miles (179 km) from east to west and 39
miles (63 km) from north to south. The capital is San Juan. (https://www.britannica.com. Puerto Rico |
History, Geography, & Points of Interest)

In Puerto Rico, there are around 3.2 million people in Puerto Rico, and close to 5 million Puerto Ricans
living in the U.S. Residents call themselves as Boricua. It is a unique name that honors their Island
heritage, but it’s also a way of life, a state of mind, a rhythm and flavor that is distinctly Puerto Rico. Rich
history and culture, exceptional food, pristine beaches, majestic mountains, relaxation, adventure — all
packed into one sun-kissed Caribbean paradise. Puerto Rico is full of people who are welcoming and
buena gente (which is Boricua lingo for kind and friendly). Here, you will feel like you are family instead
of just a visitor. Around every corner, you will find a celebration of life, a vibrant cultural experience,
food for the soul, and a captivating rhythm. (https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/list/memorable-historic-
sites-puerto-rico)

Since Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States, locals are American citizens, and American travelers
can enter the Island without carrying a passport. Nor do U.S. travelers require international calling plans
for their phones. The currency used in Puerto Rico is the U.S. dollar. Puerto Rico is an unincorporated
territory of the United States where the official languages are Spanish and English. You may come across
people who speak a mixture of both, or “Spanglish,” given the influence of the U.S. on the Island. You
can get to Puerto Rico by air or by sea. Airlines such as Delta, American Airlines, United, Southwest, Jet
Blue, and Spirit Airlines have direct flights to the Island. To give you an idea, the Island receives over
1,300 weekly non-stop flights and almost 1,000 direct flights. Most of these flights come from cities like
New York, Boston, Orlando, Philadelphia, Hartford, Dallas, Houston, Baltimore, Washington, and
Chicago. The climate in Puerto Rico is warm and tropical (i.e., expect an afternoon shower during the
summer months). The temperature varies between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. It
can go down to about 60 degrees in the central mountainous area during December and January.

The island of Puerto Rico is rich in festivals, traditions, art, and music. Puerto Rico is filled with a wide
variety of incredible places with countless reasons to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of the
Island. You’ll find a wide variety of shopping in Puerto Rico. Whether you’re searching for souvenirs,
locally-made hand-crafted items, or major brands, you can peruse and purchase from malls, outlet stores,
designer boutiques, and locally-owned shops. One of the best ways to understand more about the Island’s
deeply rooted art, culture, and history is through the many museums in Puerto Rico. From picture-perfect
views to sailing adventures, Puerto Rico’s stunning beaches include sandy stretches perfect for lounging
in the shade, catching a wave, paddling a kayak, or exploring underwater on a scuba diving or snorkeling
adventure. (https://www.discoverpuertorico.com/things-to-do)

OPENING SCENE
(During office lunch break)
Jhanica: (sitting while browsing her phone)
Jonabelle: (walking towards the other sit) Sis I didn’t see you in the canteen, have you eat
lunch?
Jhanica: (didn’t answer, busy with her phone)
Jonabelle: (knock on the table) Hey Jhanica, what are you up to? You've been looking at your
phone for a while.
Jhanica: Oh sorry. I’m so busy trying to look for a place where I can spend my holiday break.
You’re saying?
Jonabelle: I was just asking if you had your lunch.
Jhanica: Yes I did. By the way, how about you? Do you have any plans for the holiday?
Jonabelle: I haven't decided yet. It seems boring if I go on a trip alone.
Jhanica: Then, what if we go together?
Jonabelle: Oh that's a good idea! That would be fun. Let’s book a trip abroad.
Jhanica: Sounds exciting. What about somewhere in US?
Jonabelle: Don't tell me we're going to New York again?
Jhanica: Hmmm, okay let's just search something different.

(both will browse their phone and look for a place to visit)

Jonabelle: What about Washington? New Mexico? Texas?

Jhanica: Actually, I’m thinking of visiting a Spanish-speaking country.
Jonabelle: Me too. Somewhere with delicious delicacies and a beachfront hotel.
Jhanica: Wait sis look at these island-like countries. (stand up and walk towards jonabelle while
saying the line with excitement)
(Jhanica will sit beside jonabelle, then jhanica will show her phone to jonabelle and they will
continue to browse using her phone)
(after 5secs, they will look at each other with full of excitement and will both say, Puerto Rico)
Both: PUERTO RICO!
(will do a high-five)
Jhanica: Look! I think it's gonna be fun to be here.
Jonabelle: I agree sis! Look at the beaches and the food. Plus, it’s a Spanish-speaking
commonwealth governed by the U.S.
Jhanica: OMG I’m so excited. This is the perfect place that we are looking for.
Jonabelle: That’s true. Now, it’s time to find a tour package.
(both of them will get their phone and look for a tour package online)
(After few minutes………)
Jonabelle: Gosh, it's really frustrating to find a tour package abroad.
Jhanica: This is exhausting. Let's continue to find again later.
(exit)

(At home)
Jhanica: (calling)
Jonabelle: Hello Jhanica, yeah I just got home. Okay, just keep me posted if you find a tour
package in Puerto Rico. Thanks, bye. (After the call ended, sit down and open the tv)

BEGINNING OF TRAVEL AGENCY’S PROMOTIONAL VIDEO
Jobelle: Looking for a perfect package tour in Puerto Rico? Don’t worry because we got you!
This is Wanderlust Travel and Tours and we’ll gonna make your trip. Hi, my name is Jobelle.
Today, I will bring you to the heart and soul of the Caribbean.
(insert clip featuring Puerto rico + pre-recorded script)
When someone thinks of a place to get away, Puerto Rico is one of the popular spot that usually
comes up. Puerto Rico is a lovely island with the ideal climate and several historical attractions for
that long-awaited vacation. Puerto Rico is a small Caribbean island with a diverse and rich culture.
It's known as the "Heart and Soul of the Caribbean" because of its convenient location. Puerto
Rico has gifted its people with one of the world's most intrinsic and distinct cultures. The Spanish
colony left Puerto Ricans with not only a rich architectural legacy, but also a linguistic and
cultural history rich in Hispanic imagery and representations. San Juan or Old San Juan is the
capital of Puerto Rico. It is the most popular destination because of its historical landmarks, food,
and local culture. San Juan is a home to the famous attractions like El Morro, Paseo de la
Princesa, and the door of San Juan. Most Puerto Ricans refer to themselves as "Puertorriqueos" or
"Boricuas," rather than "Americans" or "Americanos." The two official (government) languages in
Puerto Rico are Spanish and English. Over 95 percent of the population speaks Spanish, which is
the major language in business, education, and daily life on the island. Since Puerto Rico is a
territory of the United States, Puerto Rico uses U.S dollar. The Flag of the Commonwealth of
Puerto Rico is rectangular in shape and consists of five alternating horizontal stripes, three red
which symbolizes the blood from the brave warriors, and two white that symbolizes victory and
peace after obtaining independence, with an isosceles triangle with a five-pointed white star that
symbolizes the land, in the center based on the hoist side.
Jobelle: Puerto Rico is divided into different regions. In this tour, we will allow you to discover
the flavors of Puerto Rico, awe-inspiring destinations, captivating leisure activities and amazing
shops while exploring the urban side of Puerto Rico, where history and culture intersect with the
bustling city life. This area is none other than the capital of Puerto Rico - San Juan City.
