II. Background Information for Learners

Impressionism an art movement that has become known after the first half
of the 19th century. It has immensely impacted the world of art and its massive
influence in painting styles that includes neo-impressionism, post-impressionism,
fauvism, cubism, and the artistic styles that emerged up to these days.

Written work #2: Read and study pp. 198-204 of your textbook, HORIZONS Music and
Arts Appreciation for Young Filipinos Grade 10. Complete the table below and write
your answers on your paper.

Activity 3. My Masterpiece
Performance Task #1: Create your own Impressionist Artwork: Impasto, means
texture painting or applying heavy paint on the canvas with the use of spatula or
knife aside from paintbrush.

Materials: ¼ illustration board or chipboard


Tubes of acrylic paints (can be shared with the classmates)
Paintbrushes
Wooden popsicle sticks
Pencil
Rags for clean up
Procedure:
1. Think of a unique design for the artwork that you are making. Decide on
what colors to be used.
2. Sketch your temporary design or the outline of your artwork on
an illustration board or a chipboard using a pencil.
3. Using the brush, apply the color paint of your choice and gradually
make it thicker using Popsicle sticks. Then you can directly apply the
paint from its tube in small or certain areas.
4. Let the paint dry on its own before putting it into display.
