Complete each of the statements briefly and write your honest reflection on this week’s
lesson/topic.
I used to think that Yoga is only beneficial to reduce one’s stress and anxiety. I also used to think
that Yoga is a different level of exercise that intends to enhance one’s flexibility. Furthermore, I
used to think that Yoga was just in the nature of stretching.
Now I know that Yoga helps in lowering a person’s blood pressure and induces better sleep. I
also knew through the learning materials that Yoga helps in improving asthma. I also knew from
the reading materials that the Ardha Sarvangasana or half shoulder pose promotes proper thyroid
function, while the Bhujangasana or the cobra pose benefits a person by stretching the spine.
Moreover, I knew about the term ‘Panayama’ which basically means ‘focus on deep breathing
and gentle stretching.’ Lastly, I was able to refresh my knowledge about Yoga that it benefits, by
and large, the mind, body, and soul.
However, I am not sure if I can do all the Yoga poses that benefit one’s overall wellness. But I
will do my best to and learn about the variety of beneficial Yoga poses for it will surely help me
in the long run.
Overall, I feel knowledgeable and refreshed about the benefits of Yoga and the corresponding
poses that can improve one’s health. I am also looking forward to learning and eventually
executing the beneficial Yoga poses.
