1. How did the mother regard the actions of Vicente?
As a parent she feel upset on how Vicente treated her children in
inappropriate manner. Parents do their best to give their children to be a
better person but because of Vicente’s action it will cause a lot of reflection
for the children.
2. What details in the story show that Vicente favored the girl over the
boy?
The discrimination on how a boy should act in people that boys do not kiss
or hugged each other instead the girls should only do it but the brave girl
quickly confused about the actions of Vicente in both of them.
3. Why did Vicente volunteer to tutor the children?
Vicente is just a bus conductor and doesn’t do anything at the evening
also it will serves as his extra income/job

4. When did the mother start to wonder about the fondness of Vicente
for her children?

In the way of Vicente’s action towards the two children.

5. How did the father react to it?

He is too busy that time reading something.

6. At what instance did the girl become frightened with the actions of
Vicente?

When she feel strange in Vicente especially when she hugged him and
she feel breathless because to the tight hugged given by Vicente to her
and on how did the girl saw Vicente abused her brother in the certain
he did.

7. Soledad by Angela Manalang Gloria (Poem)

1. What did she do that her neighbors find absolutely uncharacteristic?

She tried to hide it but the rumor was widely being spread to their town

2. According to the neighbors, what does Soledad deserve for the scandal
she has made?

“ She found her heaven in the depths of hell” for me this line showcase on
how the neighbors reacted to the malicious action done by soledad.

3. To whom does the speaker in the poem sympathize, to Soledad or to

the neighbors?

To Soledad because as a person we made mistakes either be against the

law or against the order of God for us and I think the speaker wants to
highlight soledad that even a well known person committed a mistake.

4. What does the word “soledad” mean in Spanish? Is it connected to the

theme of the poem?
Yes, because after all soledad was alone, isolated and frightened about
the scandal she have and afraid to go outside and face the people who
surrounds her.
