Past simple:
‫ هو الزمن الذي نستخدمه للتحدث عن فعل أو حدث وقع في‬Past Simple ‫ما هو زمن الماضي البسيط‬
.‫الماضي وانتهى وهو تصريف& الثاني للفعل‬
Verbs in past form : Regular verbs ( ed- d- ied) or irregular verbs

 When regular verb in past form we add ed : walk +ed →  walked

 When verb end in E we only add D injure + d →  injured
 When verb end Y and before it consonant we change Y into I + ed : cry → 
cried
 But if Y and before it vowels we keep Y and add ed : pray →  prayed / stay → 
stayed

Past simple negatives and questions:

 We use the auxiliary did for questions and (did + not = didn’t ) for negatives.
 When we add did the main verb will return to infinitive form (base form)

‫الفعل المساعد يأخذ زمن الجملة‬
 He left the company {Left = main verb‫} الفعل االساسى‬
 Did he leave the company? { Did= auxiliary verb‫} الفعل المساعد‬

**We form question which can be answered with yes or no questions in two ways
1- With auxiliary verb to {be, do, have and modal}
He was ambition {to be}
Was he ambition?
They could help me lift this {modal}
Could they help me lift this?
They had finished their homework { to have}
Had they finished their homework?

2- with main verbs: ‫مع الفعل الرئيسي نحتاج للفعل مساعد لكي نسأل‬

Joe left the company ‫الفعل في زمن الماضى‬

Did Joe leave the company? ‫الفعل المساعد اخذ زمن الجملة و يرجع الفعل للمصدر‬

*** ‫نعرف زمن الفعل األساسي و نجلب الفعل المساعد المالئم للزمن‬
‫ويرجع الفعل للمصدر و نكمل باقي الجملة كما كانت‬.
***The other type Wh- questions:- where, what, how , when …etc
Notice the word order. The wh- question word1 comes before did2 and then
the infinitive3.

She worked hard →  Why did she work hard?

He went away → When did he go away?
