This headband fits my 5-year-old as well as myself.

If you would like some

added stability, you can use bobby pins to connect the headband to the hair.

The pins slide right between the stitches.

Materials:

● Size F hook

● Size H hook
● Worsted weight yarn in white, pink, blue, purple and yellow (of

course you could use ANY colors you want!)

● Small amount of polyfill stuffing

● White plastic headband (available in packs at most craft stores).

Mine measures 1″ wide and 14″ from tip to tip. Sizes may vary,

which is fine, but you’ll want a band at least 1″ wide for stability. The

curls will weigh down a thin band.

● Tapestry needle

Instructions:
Headband:
With your F hook and white yarn:

Ch 65

R1) sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch *sc, hdc* across, ending with a hdc

in the last ch. Ch 1, turn.

R2-5) Repeat R1. Finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Thread the tail into your tapestry needle and, using a whip stitch, sew the first

and last rows together around the headband. Be sure to close it at the ends as

well. And now you have your base!

***IMPORTANT NOTE*** If your headband has different dimensions, then you

may need to add or take away rows. Just make sure that your crochet piece is

long and wide enough to wrap all the way around the headband.

Ears (make 2):

With your F hook and white yarn:

R1) 6 sc into a magic circle. Join, ch 1 (6 sc)

R2) Sc around, adding 2 separate inc stitches anywhere in the round (8 sc)

R3-8) Repeat R2 6 more times (when there are 20 sts in the row)

R9-10) Sc around (20 sc)

R11) *Sc in 1st 2 sc, sc2tog* around. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

(15 sc)

Middle of ear (make 2):

With your F hook and pink yarn:

Ch 2

R1) Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 1, turn. (1 sc)

R2) 2sc in sc. Ch 1, turn. (2 sc)

R3) 2sc in 1st sc, sc in next. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

R4) Sc evenly all the way around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off

leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ear assembly:

Take 1 ear center and set it in the middle of one of the ears, sewing it into

place. Repeat for the other ear. Set the ears aside.

Horn:
With your F hook and yellow yarn:

5 sc into a magic circle, pull closed.

*You will be working in the round for this part, use a stitch marker if

necessary*

R1) Working in BLO here and throughout, sc around adding 1 inc stitch (6 sts)

R2-16) Repeat R2, adding 1 inc stitch per round. Your last round should have

18 sts. Fasten off.

Horn base:
Still with your F hook and yellow yarn:

6sc into a magic ring, pull closed. Ch 1.

R1) 2sc in each st around (12 sc)

R2) *1 sc in 1st sc, 2sc in next* around (18 sc) Fasten off leaving a long tail for

sewing

Assembly:

Aligning the horn base along the opening of the horn, use a whip stitch to join

them together. Stuff the horn with polyfill just before you completely close it

up. Set the horn aside.

Curls (make 3):

With your H hook colored yarn of your
choice:

Ch 77
3hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off leaving a long tail

for sewing. (225 hdc)

Now for the fun part…putting it

all together!
● Start by sewing the curls onto the headband. Place them in the top

center and stitch them into place. Be sure to place them side by

side, and not one on top of the other – the horn won’t lie flat if you

do that.

● Next, place the horn where you’d like it and stitch around the base. I

placed the horn right over the edges of the curls to help conceal the

ends and give it a more clean look.

● Finally, using the long tail you left behind on the ears, whip stitch

along the bottom of the ears to close them up completely, then place

them where you like on the headband and stitch them into place.

Weave in all loose ends.

Voila! That’s it! If you have any

questions regarding this pattern,
I’m happy to clear them up for
you. Just shoot me an email at
