New Jersey was originally colonised by American natives.

The Dutch were the first European to claim New Jersey land.
During the English Civil War the island of New Jersey remained
loyal to the Crown.
It was populated by a second wave of inmigrants who came from
other colonies.
New Jersy was briefly ruled as two different provinces: East and
West Jersey between 1674 and 1712.
Nowdays New Jersey State is one of the wealthiest and most
advanced states in the USA. Its wealth is due to the proximity of
New York and Philadelphia cities.
New Jersey is populated by 8.8 million of inhabitants who are very
diverse.
It is known as one of the most liberal and tolerant state of the
nation.
