Beowulf Discussion: Fame and Friendship :

1. How is lof (fame) seen in contemporary American culture? Give examples. If You have
fame your life is great or you are a metaphorical God or Goat and probably a idol to random
people around the world.

2. How important do you personally believe fame is? Why?Me Personally I feel as if Fame is
overated if i could choose i would choose money over fame any day of the week because
with fame comes all types of dangers and things of that nature i'd rather just get paid

3. Do you believe people can achieve immortality through lof (fame)? Explain.Yes Because
there are people that died years and years ago like Tupac who died around 1996 or around
2000s or something but there are people just learning about him to this day. Also
XXXTentacion and people in that category they are labeled as the goats of music and no
matter what happens people will not just let them rest in peace they always bring the name
up.

Wiglaf shows the true meaning of comitatus (Anglo-Saxon

loyalty/companionship/friendship) at the end of Beowulf.
4. What does it mean to be a “true friend?”To Remain loyal at all times and to be there for
each other and to do things for each other expecting no return but knows that it would be the
same if roles were reversed

5. What does a true friend do and NOT do?A True Friend sticks with you through time and
all though you may grow apart you are still friends at the end of the day.If you talk down on
your friend that is a No No, and most importantly if you switch up your act when other
people come around then you really are not a true friend you are just acting

6. Have you ever had a true friend or been a true friend? Explain. No If i had any true friends
then they would still be here but what i do have are brothers and although i only have 2
biological brothers i have way more brothers that i would call family although we are not
from the same blood
