TEST I. SOLVING. Show your solution, ( 5 points each required answer )

1.) Given a 60µC point charge located at the origin, find the total electric flux passing through: (a) that
portion of the sphere r = 26cm bounded by 0 < θ < π/2 and 0 < Φ < π/2; (b) the closed surface
defined by ρ = 26cm and z = ±26cm; (c) the plane z = 26cm.

2.) Calculate D in rectangular coordinates at point P(2, -3, 6) produced by: (a) a point of charge QA =
55mC at Q(-2, 3, -6); (b) a uniform line charge ρLB = 20mC/m on the x-axis.

3.) A uniform line charge, infinite in extent, with ρL = 20nC/m, lies along the z-axis. Find E at (6, 8, 3) m.

4.) Charge is distributed uniformly over the plane z = 10cm with a density ρs = (1/3π)nC/m2. Find E.

5.) Find the charge in the volume defined by 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 m, 0 ≤ y ≤ 1 m, and 0 ≤ z ≤ 1 m if ρ= 30x2y

(µC/m3).

6.) Three point charges, Q1 = 30nC, Q2 = 150nC, and Q3 = -70nC, are enclosed by surfaced S. What net
flux crosses S?

7.) A point charge, Q = 30nC, is located at the origin in Cartesian coordinates. Find the electric flux
density D at (1, 3, -4) m.

8.) Two identical uniform line charges lie along the x and y axes with charge densities ρL = 20µC/m.

9.) A point charge of Q(C) is at the center of a spherical coordinate system. Find the flux Ψ which
crosses an area of 4π m2 on a concentric spherical shell of radius 3m.

10.) Infinite uniform line charges of 5nC/m lie along the (positive and negative) x and y axes in free
space. Find E at: (a) PA(0, 0, 4); (b) PB(0, 3, 4).
