A/ it is an old method of the methods of teaching. The focus is on grammar and vocabulary
areas as well as on reading and writing skills.

A/in the 20th century

Q- Grammar-Translation method was called the classical method, why?

- ‫لماذا كانت تدعى بالطريقة الكالسيكية؟‬
A/ it was called the classical method since it was first used in the teaching of the classical
languages, Latin and Greek.
)‫كانت تدعى بالطريق ة الكالسيكية النها كانت تستخدم اوال في تدريس اللغات الكالسيكية ( الالتينية واإلغريقية‬

Q/ what is the purpose of using grammar-Translation method? ‫مهم‬

A/ the purpose of using grammar-Translation method is helping students to read and
appreciate foreign language.
.‫الغرض من استخدام هذه الطريقة هو مساعدة الطالب لقراءة وتقدير اللغة االجنبية‬
Q- What is the target language? ‫قليل االهمية‬
:‫يوجد تعريفين واعتقد ان االول هو االصح النه المستخدم في الطرائق والثاني مستخدم في الترجمة‬
1-Target language: a language other than one’s native language that is being learned
.‫ لغة أخرى غير اللغة األم التي يتم تعلمها‬:‫لغة الهدف‬

A/ it is the language being translated into. for example, if I translate from English to Arabic,
Arabic is the target language. ‫غير مهم‬

A/ Foreign language: it’s the strange language which people don’t use it in their community.

Native language: it’s the mother tongue which people use it in their community.
.‫ وهي اللغة االم التي يستخدمها السكان في مجتمعهم‬:‫اللغة االصلية‬

A/ Because literature is better than spoken language.

4- One of GTM goals is making students able to translate each language into the
Other. What is the meaning of “other”?

A/ Other means all languages.

5- Why does teacher use a native language in the class?
‫لماذا يستخدم المدرس اللغه االم في الصف؟‬
A/ to make them understand the topic.
.‫لجعلهم يفهمون الموضوع‬
.‫ليس التواصل باللغة الهدف‬GTM ‫وتستطيع القول الن هدف هذه الطريقة‬
Because the goal of GTM is not communicating with TL.
