At the end of the class discussion, the grade 9 students are expected to:

PROCEDURE:

Asking of learners on the different types of PPE used in agricultural works.

 Motivation
The teacher will provide pictures of a hazardous workplace.
The students will identify what hazards is present in the Pictures.

 Presentation
The teacher will present the topic.
Roles and responsibilities of OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) Employees and Employers

Unlocking terms
1. Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a branch of public health aimed at improving workplace health and
safety standards. It studies injury and illness trends in the worker population and offers suggestions for mitigating
the risks and hazards they encounter on the job.
2. Workplace hazard refers to a situation within the workplace that has the potential to cause injury or adverse
health effects for people and damage to the plant and/or equipment. Hazards are present at every workplace and
come from a wide number of sources. Identifying and eliminating them is a major component of maintaining a
safe workplace.
3. Workplace - a place where people work, such as an office or factory.

 Lesson Proper
 Activity
The students will be grouped into 4 groups. They will do a Roleplay entitled “SAVE ME
MY LOVER”.
Each group will perform within 3 minutes.
Instruction is in the Activity Card.
 Analysis
The teacher will check the answers of the activity.
The teacher will discuss about the Roles and responsibilities of OHS (Occupational
Health and Safety) Employees and Employers

3. Abstraction
The teacher will ask about what they have learned among the things we have discussed.

 Application
Why is it important to know the roles and obligations of OHS for you as Agricultural
Crop Production students?
What are the employees and employers’ roles in the workplace safety?

III. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Enumerate the different OHS roles and obligations.

V. AGREEMENT
Choose one of the companies you like. Ex. Jollibee, Mc. Donalds, Sturbucks, Etc.
Search for their safety guidelines within their company.

 Legal - recognized or made effective by a court of law as distinguished from a court of equity
 Obligation - the action of obligating oneself to a course of action (as by a promise or vow)
 Duty - obligatory tasks, conduct, service, or functions that arise from one's position (as in life or
in a group
 Participative Arrangement - are designed so that stakeholders can be involved in decision
making that affects their health and safety. Participatory processes may include employee and
supervisor involvement in OHS activities, such as inspections and audits. health and safety, and
other representatives.
 Structure - he arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex.

 Activity
The students will be divided into 5 groups.
Each group will be given an instruction
Direction: Each group will prepare an at least 5 minutes presentation on a scenario inside
a company meeting where they will discuss on how to maintain good health at the same
time safety environment. They are given 30 minutes to prepare and another 5 minutes
preparation and 3 minutes to perform.
 Analysis
The teacher will discuss the Legal obligations of employees and employers to the health and
safety of everyone.

 Abstraction

The teacher will ask about the different legal obligations of the employers as well as the
employees in the safety and health of everyone.

 Application
The teacher will ask why there is a need to know the legal obligation of everyone in the
company.
The teacher will ask what’s the importance of knowing your legal obligations inside a
company.

IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Answer the following questions. Enumerate what is asked. Write your answers in a ½ piece
of pad paper.

V. AGREEMENT

Search for a sample of a OHS Structure in a company. You can write your answers in a ½ piece of pad
paper.

Direction: Each group will create a wall poster regarding the OHS Information.
This must be clear and precise. They are given 30 minutes to finish their poster and
another 3 minutes to present their work.

The teacher will discuss the Importance of knowing OHS by staffs inside a company.

The teacher will ask why there is a need to know the Importance of knowing OHS by

IV. ASSESSMENT
Direction: Study the two pictures. Identify which one is doing the right form and who is not. Write your
answers in a ¼ sheet of pad paper. Then explain.

4. What are the different forms a format can companies used to make sure their staffs can see or
hear every OHS guidelines.

V. AGREEMENT

Imagine you have your own company; how would you structure your OHS Guidelines and how will
advertise it your employees for them to be reminded it always. Write your answers in a ½ sheet of pad paper.
